2011 marks the ten year anniversary of the Gundam VS series of Gundam games. Namco Bandai will be celebrating the franchise at two summer events.

First up is Character Hobby 2011 C3xHobby. This event will be held at the Makuhari Messe on August 27 and 28. Namco Bandai's booth will have all the Gundam VS. arcade games available for free play.

Next comes Tokyo Game Show in mid September. Namco Bandai will hold the Gundam Xtreme Versus 10th Anniversary Dogfight in Tokyo Game Show tournament, a tournament using the Xtreme Versus arcade cabinet.

The Gundam VS. series kicked off in 2001 with Gundam Federation VS Zeon. The series has seen a total of nine releases, including the latest, Gundam Xtreme Versus.

Dengeki PlayStation does not have a release time frame for Disgaea 3 Return. However, it does provide an indication of when we'll get to play the PlayStation Vita title.

In an interview with the magazine, Nippon Ichi CEO Sohei Niikawa says that current plans call for the game to be shown in playable form at this year's Tokyo Game Show, which will be held in mid September.

As detailed earlier, the Vita port of PlayStation 3's Disgaea 3 will feature four new scenarios. These all take place after the main storyline and have different main characters. They're meant to shine the spotlight on side characters. One of the four scenarios will feature two new characters.

In his interview, Niikawa said the main attraction for the Vita version is the new scenarios. The last of the four scenarios is so long that one could actually say the game includes five new scenarios, he said.

The Vita version will also include all the PS3 version's download content, including the four chapters of the Raspberyl scenario, 49 background tracks, 29 save data icons, and so-forth.

There could be additional Vita exclusive features besides the new scenarios. Niikawa said that they're hoping to make use of positional information and touch functionality. The Vita version may also get its own download content, although if this were the case the content would focus on characters from Disgaea 4.

One thing that won't be changing is the sprite resolution. Niikawa said that they were considering upping the visuals the high resolution like in Disgaea 4, but instead decided to focus on adding content to the game. He assured that the game looks beautiful on the Vita screen.

The Vita version may have faster load times than PS3 version. While the game is not yet running on the system's flash cards, Niikawa expects the loading to be better due to both the Vita's advanced capabilities and better memory management (I'm not sure if he's referring to the Vita's better memory management or the programmers' better memory management).

Nippon Ichi will be looking at the response Return gets to decide what type of titles they should bring to the Vita, Niikawa said.

I'm actually super interested in those Gundam games but I'm sure it'll be a let down, Federation vs. Zeon and Encounters In Space were okay but the Dynasty Warriors ones are the only ones so far that haven't managed to be a giant disappointment.

Hoping for some "surprise" info on Versus, but not holding out. TGS delivers though, so definitely looking forward to it.

Omg Gundam VS Zeta Gundam was one of my favorite PS2 Gundam games. Clunky controls but extreme fun once you get good at it. Just update that for this gen and I'll buy 4 of them.

Must not be aware of the Gundam vs Gundam PSP games and this fantastic arcade game in Japan. It runs on Namco's System 357 arcade board, PS3 based. So I'm hopeful for it to be released there to import it someday.

I didnt know about those no lol. I had to look up old gameplay videos to see if the system was the same with the "MS Stock" Meter and it seems like it is. Yeah I'd love to play this. Would like to have a mission mode like the PS2 games in the console version of that^ though.

    Pretty much how I'm feeling.

Ni no Kuni really needs confirmation of it getting localized for over here. Trico I just want a 10min gameplay demo. I've given up on Vs. at this point though.

Akihiro Hino, head of Japanese developer Level-5, announced in this week's issue of Famitsu magazine that they'll be holding another exclusive press event later on this year. Unlike previous shows, though, this one will be open and free to the public. The "Level-5 World" event, held by the developer of game series like Professor Layton and Inazuma Eleven, will be held October 15 and 16 at the Tokyo Big Sight convention center. More details on events and such will be announced next month.

"I think the game industry is in transition right now, from new platforms to change in user tastes to the effects of the [March] earthquake," Hino told Famitsu. I think we've been somewhat slow to respond to this. We've been working on a number of projects in parallel, and earlier this year we realized we'd be too late on much of it for the Tokyo Game Show. That's why we thought it best to hold our own event a month later to better appeal to gamers."

Level-5 will still have a presence at TGS (which starts September 15), but it will likely be limited to a simple meeting room instead of the large booth displays of previous years.

What can we expect to see at the show, then? "I can't give specifics," Hino responded, "but we'll have ten or so unreleased titles on display. A lot of those have already been announced, but there will be some brand-new titles too."
    http://www.1up.com/news/level-5-hold...e-expo-october

Info for TGS is streaming out at a snails pace for an event that is less than a month away.
