We have our first confirmation of a Namco Bandai Tokyo Game Show title today courtesy of Weekly Famitsu. The magazine reveals that the just announced PS3 version of Gundam Extreme VS. will go playable at the September event.

Namco Bandai will also have the arcade version at the show. This will be used for a tournament.

Famitsu has an interview with arcade version director Tetsuya Akatsuka and producer Yoshitaka Goto. In addition to the Tokyo Game Show info, they reveal that the PS3 version will include all the content that's added to the arcade version right through the home version's release. The home version is based off the latest build of the arcade version, which is due to hit arcades this Fall.

Regarding the game's network mode, Akatsuka said that they're aiming for lag free play. The game already feels extremely good even ahead of release. Players can create their very own rooms and gather with their friends to play. These rooms can be set up with local rules. Akatsuka said they have some ideas to keep this area of the game from being too much work for players. He promised details in a later update.

Goto promised lots of content for the home version, although he wouldn't divulge details. In addition to the background music edit mode mentioned in our earlier story, one other mode mentioned in the interview is a practice mode which lets you learn the controls. One of the ideas is that you'll be able to practice at home and take your new skills to the arcade.

The PS3 version will have a number of other new features that aren't revealed in Famitsu's article. Akatsuka promised the announcement of some surprising information soon.

Develoment on Gundam Extreme Vs is currently at 70%. The game is due for December 1 release, priced ¥8,380.

Famitsu's reveal article on PlayStation Vita's New Little King Story says that the game will be playable at September's Tokyo Game Show in Sony Computer Entertainment's booth. Attendees will get to sample a battle involving large numbers of your kingdom's residents.

As detailed earlier today, New Little King Story is a Vita followup to Wii's Little King Story. While Marvelous Entertainment published the Wii version, Konami is the publisher of the Vita version. However, the copyright statement in Famitsu also lists Marvelous and AQ Interactive.

Based off a summary of Famitsu's article at Sokuho@Hokanko, it's not clear if the game is completely new or if it's an updated version of the Wii title. The game is said to have a new story, but the main character and heroine are listed as King Corobo and Princess Apricot, both from the original.

The Vita version features full touch based controls. The game will also use the system's power for a visual engine that can show seamless time and weather shifts.

More dramatic than any of those changes, though, is the change to visual style. While the Wii version had cute "super deformed" style characters, the Vita characters have more realistic proportions.

Famitsu does not provide a release time frame for New Little King Story.

The silence is about to end on tri-Ace's Beyond the Labyrinth. Famitsu reveals that the 3DS title will be playable at September's Tokyo Game Show. This presumably means that Konami will finally begin talking about the game soon (possibly at tomorrow's press conference).

For those who can't make it out to Makuhari for the event, Konami is also preparing a TGS trailer that will clock in at a whole sixty seconds in length.

These details are in addition to the revelation that Motoi Sakuraba will be composing the game's music.

The PlayStation 3 version of Level-5's Studio Ghibli tie-up RPG Ni no Kuni finally has a release date. This week's Famitsu reveals that the game will arrive on November 17. It will carry a price of ¥8,800, placing it among the higher profile PlayStation 3 titles.

The DS version of Ni no Kuni saw release last December. The PS3 version is said to have a different story.

[Update: This event has been confirmed by Nintendo, says NextGen. It's business only, which means investors, analysts and press.]

I hate that the rest of the gaming world shows up for Tokyo Game Show, but Nintendo always hangs back. Gaming is one of Japan's biggest export industries, and TGS is the trade show where the entire industry gets together and shares their wares with the world. If you look at it that way, it makes Nintendo look like they're too cool for school. Join with your countrymen!

This rumored pre-TGS might be the next best thing, though. Nintendo stock spiked for a bit yesterday. Bloomberg Japan says that it could have something to do with investors learning that Nintendo will hold a 3DS event on September 13. TGS runs from the 15-18, so a Nintendo event would work beautifully with my schedule.

I hope this is true. Nintendo does a semi-regular fall event, so maybe they're just tweaking the timing this year. This year in particular is exciting for portable gaming. Nintendo shouldn't let Sony have all the fun next month.

Analyst Expects Monster Hunter Announcement at Tokyo Game Show

Mizuho raises Capcom's target stock price based off possibility of major announcements.
NS Journal reports today that Mizuho Securities is maintaining an "outperform" outlook on Capcom's share price. Mizuho expects two developments to lead to favorable outcomes for Capcom shareholders:

    1. Capcom will kick off an SNS game based off Snoopy this Fall

    2. It is expected that Capcom will announce new entries in major series like Monster Hunter at the Tokyo Game Show.

As a result of these possible developments, Mizuho has raised its target stock price for Capcom from ¥2,200 to ¥2,600.

It's not fully clear if Mizuho has learned of a specific Monster Hunter announcement, or if they're just saying that major titles like Monster Hunter will be announced. TGS is just a couple of weeks away, so we should find out soon enough!
