I had no trouble with 26 thf, are you at the second book? there's 2 of the closer to leeches than the first book iirc, you have to go in deeper and sneak lock on the book to get exp (I was in an alliance and getting 1 exp per kill on 26 thf, so it might be cutting it close if you have too many high levels/are too low level).

Really? What about the new voidwatch mobs? I don't have the mantis, nor the recolours like Aello. Also there's none of the new 3 set of head/body gear (Ocelomeh etc), unless that has the same model as the three sets from the last voidwatch update (radient mail etc)? But their pictures look very different.

If you have too many people in the pt and the mule is too low, the exp will be less than 1 and round down to 0 (and wont count for book). I think my mule had to be like 15+ or something before I could add anyone to pt and get 1 exp.
I'd argue that it's stupid to reduce my statement to that given that I specifically said it's the one event where Kannagi has an advantage outside Abyssea. Disregarding the benefits of killspeed in terms of both safety and efficiency is also stupid.
Going back to the discussion of utility in Voidwatch, it should be painfully obvious that relying on some 80 CE ninjutsu and low CE black magic gives you a razor-thin margin of hate, nevermind the issues with VE decay vs your DDs, and as such these people you keep referring to would be better off not jamming a square peg into a round hole. Blade: Hi has a ~75-85% critrate with Innin, gear, and Champion's Tonic, more on the frequent 300 TP weaponskill. /WAR augments your damage output, increases your TP gain, and even opens up some additional procs for you to help with if you're so inclined. /SAM lets you generate more TP without being in range. Both of these let you do something productive between procs instead of sitting with your thumb up your ass or trying to tank mobs that clearly weren't designed with NIN tanks in mind, nevermind NINs using a tanking style that died over a year ago.
If I can hold hate off the majority of the alliance tossing a few nukes on Black Mage, I'm sure any NIN/DRK worth their salt could hold hate equally well. Sleep and Sleep II were nerfed, but Absorb spells and more sources of Refresh have restored some viability. I'd rather have a NIN/DRK tanking than sitting there hoping desperately to proc something so I don't end up with two weakened stunners, but our NINs sub WAR, use Kannagis, fail to take hate, and die when they do. AoE spam, Fanatic's doesn't exist and no one is quick enough to use it, etc.
There are three primary damage sources in any hard Voidwatch fight (Avatars, Magic, and Ranged attacks) and two of them are rendered useless by double weakness. Fights go faster when you're able to contain the wipe. NIN/DRK keeps hate almost equally well from 20'+ and sitting on the monster, so there's no reason to get hit with the AoE that kills the main tank, the charmga that takes out the melee, etc. I think the strategy is underutilized at the moment. The fact that no one does it doesn't make it any less viable now than it did in 2005.
Strategy options:
/DRK -
CE : Absorb - TP (320), Aspir (320), Stun (180), meleeing with Souleater during HQ staggers (priceless)
VE : Stun (1280), Any Absorb (640), Any stupidly high hate DRK JA (900~1300), Poison (320), Bio (320), Sleep (300)
Defensive -
50% PDT/MDT still, Migawari trump card, you're only aiming to last 5 minutes, and you can Mijin yourself back to usefulness.

Get luckier. Have been in Dyna every morning since the patch, 1/godknowshowmany white procs so far. Its deff a low percentage
If kannagi/Hi Weapon isnt worth it, should I build an evasion katana then?
