I'm considering leveling DNC just for farming Dynamis currency.

I checked out Byrth's DNC.xml file and I think most of that DNC specific gear would be fairly easy for me to toss together quickly (I already have all the accessories). What about weapons though? Would Phurba/Twilight be decent or do I need to do a Kila of some kind?

DNC is a 1-h job with a B skill, it is very attack starved. A STR Kila *really* helps. Possibly two. Each one is going to add something like 4% to your attack, which as DNC is *never* capping attack is going to be about 4% damage on top of having better damage/delay than twlight or phurba.

If you're going to be healing yourself though, you might want the phurba for cure potency still. Not sure how that breaks down vs more attack.

Ok so STR Kila main and which offhand would you recommend then? I'd prefer to keep this simple, but if you think doing a 2nd Trial weapon is pretty important, I suppose I could.

Keep in mind that this is strictly for Dynamis Currency farming. I'm not likely to be using DNC for anything else.

Yeah, good point. Assuming 70 vit on an EP dynamis mob (might be low, I dunno), as a Mithra DNC/WAR with 8 STR merits, I have 101 STR with Yellow curry in TP gear and no STR kilas.

The extra 10 STR from two would change my base damage from 52->55. That's a 5.8% increase there, multiplicative with the ~4% from attack. That's a 10% damage increase total.

You could just use a Phurba offhand. It would get you an easy 20~25% Waltz potency when combined with AF1 body and potentially AF2 head (cap is 30%). The DPS isn't atrocious, either.

Really? So noxious bloom does nothing if you've got phurba/af body/ relic head/Roundel?

(Or as something that might actually be relevant, that new waltz potency ring does nothing if you're using Phurba?)

Yeah, it's a stupidly low cap. I don't use Phurba though, so it doesn't matter for me.
4% Dance Shoes, 1% Sonia's Plectrum, 3% Valseur's Ring, 10% DNC AF1 body, 5% Roundel = 23% Waltz Potency with a recast Anwig or 28% with AF2 head

Was easy to straight tank solo on rdm at 75, dunno why you are having so much trouble. Just run right away when it does mighty strikes if you are having trouble with that.

With a good pdt set on rdm you could actually straight tank thru mighty strikes too though it was kinda mp costly. But should be pretty easy now

thinking about reactivating this weekend and haven't played in like four or five months. i remember reading some stuff over the summer about some new payment system, which i'm guessing is probably in place by now. can i still reactivate normally by just going thru POL and enabling my content ID, and have it do the recurring $12.95 payments?

How long does AV take to depop upon deaggro? Mainly asking cause I'm wondering whether it's on the old longer timer still or if they changed it to the much shorter one VWs have.

ah alright, thanks! i know i've had my POL ID linked to an SE account for ages now, so that part's all taken care of. should i still be initiating the reactivation thru POL, or is that all done on the SE account site now as well? i started the process thru the former and it's prompting me to unsubscribe from the POL service, so i have no idea if i'm supposed to go thru with that or what, haha.

Having a linked account in the past is not the same as the recent changes. Even if linked in the past, you need to log in to your SE account and "merge" them. After this, all account management is done through your SE account online, not through POL.

Its normal. Only thing that would make it seem quick is if you reach the time limit.
