that is the mission that you need to kill Gear trains 2 times with a blue mage then becomes a flayer

Can it also be duoed?

Derp, I misunderstood. Have your friend go RDM/SCH, sleep blu on first form. Second form sleepga gears, and wreck the Soulflayer.

I wont lie, you are going to have to get lucky and not get a stupidcat. If she attacks the blu instead of one of the gears you're pretty fucked. If you can get a Fudo sam to go with you I know from experience a lvl 90 Sam can Double Light the Soulflayer to death.

Higher damage weapon goes in the main hand. How is this even a question?

I've wanted to know this since 2004. Why do SMN physical BPs do so much damage on HNM? Do they ignore defense or do avatars have gigantic Attack? While WARs and other melee are hitting for 0-10 damage on WoE bosses, Leviathans still do 800-1200 Spinning Dives.

Avatars have gigantic attack and low base damage (on their normal hits). On their BPs, they probably still have gigantic attack but higher base damage or really high fTP. They also supposedly don't suffer from level correction. Additionally, most avatars do a special kind of damage that is sometimes classified as Blunt (I think?) so if something has damage resistances it may not resist them.

Well I think all pets either have gigantic attack or ignore defense because at 75 my Wyvern would still hit for 30-40 on Kirin while most melee were hitting for 0 (kite method circa 2004) so i remember being in the MA to keep wyvern on it for DoT lol.

Well, Kegsay showed that they have pretty high attack (think, geared character with a mithkabob-ish) at 75. He also showed that they ignore level correction, which is probably more responsible for the things you've described. Fighting something 10 levels above you takes a huge bite out of your Attack/Defense ratio.

Yeah which is why +avatar attack doesn't do a whole lot. Also from what I remember reading there pdif is all kinds of weird. Like super higher cap than melees though alot harder to reach

That was my thought, but enough people have said Triple attack goes in main hand if the DMG is close enough to make me wonder if there's a reason that none of them have yet been able to give me.

Dual AGI for solo, Dual STR for damage. TP bonus fusetto for Aeolian Edge cleaving.

I personally just have Dual AGI for my weapons because soloing is the only way I play DNC.

Duo'd this the other day with me on blu and friend on whm to keep Naja alive. Regurgitation to hit the blu and spawn the gears. I believe she attacks the closest mob, so if you can bind the blu, no worries there. Went with same setup for final fight, but lost with alex at 3%. (stupid mdef down followed by a nuke almost immediately before I could erase it. One hit KO for our loss, then got nailed again while trying to RR).

And to give you some comfort, blu is my best geared job, which means my tp set is a mix of AF3+1, dusk, and aurore, swinging away with a str shashmir. So if your characters actively go after the best gear, these should be a walk in the park for you.
