Probably a stupid question, but I've had Restraint for months now and other then the in game description, I have no idea what it does or how useful it is. I know originally it was supposed to make WSs stronger at the sake of giving up Crit attacks, but I think that was changed cause I still see Crits with it up. But most of the time I completely forget I have that ability since it doesn't make a noticeable difference in any of my WS.

So anyone know exactly how Restraint works or if it's even worth using?

Can War/Sam tank Rani, or hold long enough for blue/red? My defensive sets would be 38% PDT (with the -2% pdt grip, 36 with pole), 12MDB/24%MDT, and around 2900-3000ish HP.

I ask because I question the ability of the nin, thf and mnk in this pickup, all who look terrible.

new to blu. while getting spells and misc. equips to go along with this nice shiny almace (finished 90 today !), is there any of the af/+1, af2, or morrigan's that are 'must have' pieces? thanks ~

AF1 body is still pretty nice to have, especially while doing spells.

Relic head for +Skill, AF legs for a SIR set (pretty meh and typically not worth bothering with). Morrigan's Body and legs are still useful iirc, if only for Sanguine Blade.

Is it worth doing Precast (Fastcast) gear for short casting time spells like Flash?

Also, what determines the time interval before "Midcast" gear is loaded? Can you set different Midcast intervals for different sets of spells?

Nowadays virtually every BLU i see around is carrying a Evasion Magian sword.

I always though that BLU would be going for the STR or DEX ones.

Is the evasion magian sword any good for BLU? Or is it just another case of mass stupidity (a la Homan and Denali Head)?

Doesn't look too bad. Maybe switch the belt out for something that doesn't have DEX-8 on it for non-abyssea stuff (I use Light Belt atm) and maybe Aesir Mantle. WHM has hardly any +attack gear they can wear so we're pretty limited besides obviously gear from the 3 mini-expansions.

Some people might suggest more +accuracy to you which would have been relevant at 75 cap, but in the age of abyssea and rapey voidwatch mobs if you need +accuracy to hit something then you probably shouldn't be meleeing it in the first place.

I think you can do most of the trials in grauberg so it would be easier to make than STR or DEX trials; otherwise it's basically a statless Shamshir with BT mod unless you're running an evasion set.

While messing around in ffxicalculator, I saw that with capped enhancing skill, 8 merits, and all the enhancing skill gear that RDM can wear, you can allegedly get phalanx up to 45/hit (474 total skill). Is this right, or is there a hard cap to phalanx like there is with stoneskin? (That skill also gets you a 34 point phalanx2, but doesn't have the full boosted duration that you get with full af3+2 set.)

depends on the competency of your whm. The biggest thing was macroing in my mdt set for his spells (Those are really the major thing to worry about) his normal attacks aren't THAT bad (but they do add up overtime if your whm is a little slow on the draw). If your whm is half conscious you should be fine. I've tanked him on war myself and he wasn't too bad.

iirc, they changed the Phalanx I equation post-75 so it has the same slope as Phalanx II (+1 point of damage per 25 skill). The calculator probably just hasn't been updated, but generally Phalanx I and II (5/5) are the same potency now I think.

my own question. While the exp here has been pretty nice for lvling my new account, Bostaunieux Oubliette, are there any other areas that are comparable? I'm getting a little sick of leeches <_<.

basically Looking for a nice GoV area with a page around the same (bost caps at a little over 4k per page, 9 mobs per page) leeches are plentiful and spawn on a nice little circuit to run around on. I DO NOT wanna deal with lvl 95-100 mobs and their bullshit. Basically I'd like to find someplace that I can rage around on against EP mobs. Thanks.

What lvl can I start doing GoV pages, say in bostaunieux oubliette, and leeching. Can I take a lvl 1 job and page lock myself? Or do I have to be a minimun lvl 10 or higher or whatever?
