it is fake sadly
The tape stops the windows from shattering and blowing around the store if they break. It's not to stop them from breaking.
The last hurricane we had here we had no power for 9 days. Expect it for a long time.
If the hurricane was over-hyped expect people to be less panicky next time and doing more stupid things. Always happens up here every time we get a storm.
Work has power. Go figure.![]()
Yeah. Sadly, with all the power outages and getting stuck in Huntington overnight, I am in work today (late) and we have power. Come on Irene, can't you do anything right?
Still no power here in wall NJ. My dad brought home a small generator yesterday from work though, so we at least have one of our fridges, and a few other things running. We don't have cable though, so only internet is from phones. Someone said yesterday they were told the power would be out for between a day and a week, and probably half the town either never lost power, or got it back last night, so hopefully won't be too much longer. Oh, and there's a bobcat driving down the street as i'm posting.
It's cool though, we're the only ones in my neighborhood with lightsI'm just surprised that not only was our generator not stolen last night, but we haven't had anyone breaking down our door.
Power just came back for me in Toms River NJ.
WOOOO 44hours without it. It was like camping at home.
Just got power+cable 2 minutes ago.
Power slowly getting restored but I'm still sol. With my luck I'll have it by Friday...
Still sitting in the dark here as well![]()
i think only nj people will get it

I just started day three with no power at home or work.. From what I'm hearing it will be out until probably Friday, along with about 100k other residents of RI and a chunk of southeastern MA. Thankfully I'm able to get around because the roads are passable, so I'm chillin at Panera recharging my shit on their dime.
Day 3 myself. Work has power for me though. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing heh. Shelton doesn't use cl&p. Any town that does is sol while every town with a public utility is nearly 100%. Honestly it's sad how little progress they've made compared to these smaller providers. Fuck cl&p. -_-
Was down at my grand parents yesterday in Old Saybrook (on the shore) and there was now power in OS or in Madison or Westbrook
No power at my house, word is that a tornado may have hit my block(Valley Stream- NY(long Island) . a row of 4 trees got sliced down. Not knocked over really. close to the same thing happened on the next block over as well.
Just think, that was a cat 1, a weak hurricane and it caused so much disruption, impacted lots of folks, I hope everyone affected by the storm gets back on their feet ASAP.
Here's to hoping that people now fully understand in the northeast how serious these storms are, no matter if its just a cat 1 or a strong tropical storm. I think I speak for a lot of people down in New Orleans and across the Gulf South, we hope people got educated so when the next big one hits the US, wherever it ends up being doesn't end up being "The next Katrina".
Fuck you CL&P, Fuck you!
