I refuse to believe you work at a gamestop, every one I've been to I've been skeptical about the employees' abilities to actually turn on a computer, much less wander onto an online message board and communicate with others.

This is a free copy of DXHR for buying a copy of DXHR, effectively the same thing.

He copy-pasted that verbatim from a GameStop corporate press release.

If you have access to the SE/GameStop distribution contract that stipulates SE was in breach for including the coupon, by all means share. Otherwise GS is in some serious legal trouble.

every vendor has a contract with companies that sell. if this was included and not brought to the attention of gamestop, there is no legal trouble.

there are tons of partnerships between companies on all kinds of things like this, this time apparently they say it wasnt, and if thats the case, then they removed it because they werent made aware.

ea had some ads in stores a few months ago that had walmart marketing on them and those were all pulled from the stores too. it all depends on the agreements with the vendors

Once the seal is broken the game is no longer new. I'm not talking about the plastic wrap, it's the seal the put on the bottom and the top (and sometimes the side) of the casing that represents it being new or not. And yeah, whats to stop a few employees from taking those codes and selling them on craigslist or w/e. Slippery Slop indeed, and it's gonna turn against GS in the long run to companies maybe going so far as to not let gamestop sell their products. If gamestop can remove competition from their stores, companies can not sell to a competitor also

People buy PC games from GameStop still?
    Spoiler: show
People buy PC games retail still?

PC aisle at my local EB Games is smaller than the GameCube/Xbox1 shelf.

It needs to be demonstrated that GameStop included a definition of 'promotion of competing services' that covers an independent SE press release (from all indications not every copy of Deus Ex PC came with the coupon, nor is it mentioned in the packaging) and SE agreed to not undercut Impulse/whatever streaming service GameStop is going to shit out (or not) that competes with OnLive. Otherwise GS is indeed liable for robbing value from selling through a shipped good.

There shouldn't need to be. Best Buy doesn't have the right to pop open every PC game and remove the Razer ads because they want to sell Rocketfish crap.

The retail product is what it is. Gamestop can choose to sell it, unmolested, or they can choose to send their shipments back and direct potential purchasers elsewhere. There's no middle ground.

If they had half a brain, they'd be directing their efforts on how to include similar coupons for their own service (when it's out of beta). All they're doing now, besides tarnishing their reputation even further, is hurting their own customers, which isn't exactly good business.

wrong, once the game its used its used. go into a walmart and half the stuff in a box has been opened and its still sold as new. the product is resealed before its sold to you and it never was put into a used condition.

pretty much this, im not saying they arent possibly in the wrong, but im saying if the contract didnt state it, they could be justified

also how many of you even bought the game on pc from gamestop?

No one. Thats the irony of this. All the points have been brought to light, on both sides of the issue. Just another butthurt over gamestop flare up. GS took care of this issue the wrong way, but ultimately nothing matters out of any of this.

The shit that's been opened at wal mart finds it's way to the clearance aisle, it's called "open item" and comes with a nice discount. Is gamestop giving an open item discount?

most of that doesn't make its way to the clearance isle, but gamestop does open item discount accessories and the like or new games with damage boxes from them being out on display. as long as the product(ie disc) is new it is a new product

as with every retailer out there, find out which ones are shady and just avoid those. it isnt hard

Except for that whole Tortious Interference thing. That might be more than nothing.

I'd be happy if the outcome of all this is GameStop gets out of selling boxed PC games altogether, considering the damage they've done to the PC gaming industry it'll be better for all around.

Can't wait until they start opening boxes and removing the "Online Pass" codes that come with console games.
