"Oh, you wanted the manual too? That's an extra $5...unless you preordered. You didn't preorder?"
"Oh, you wanted the manual too? That's an extra $5...unless you preordered. You didn't preorder?"
Shady.
WELL BACK IN 1995 I DID, WHAT SAY YOU NOW FUCKER.
Really as I said before, I like only rarely buy shit from gamestop anyway so ya this doesn't matter for me, but reality is this is just helping to put more nails on the coffin of that store in the first place. They seem to want to go the way of blockbuster. Slow and painfully with insane prices.
[edit] oh fuck I read that quote wrong....
HERE"S A BUNNY

phew that should work.
I don't believe they've been stickering the insert/manuals in quite some time, unless that's retailer-dependent.
I've been liking my local EB a little more since they ditched having one sticker on front (price), and one on back (barcode), and just combined the two into a slightly larger one on the front, which makes it easier to peel off also since it's a larger surface to work with.
that makes me wonder, wouldn't eb do the same thing since they are owned by gamestop?
Maybe. I rarely go there anymore. Most of the time I'd bought stuff there in the past few years has been buy two get one type stuff on used games...but since they elected to toss most of the PS2 game cases/manuals and all that, less reason to look.
Most of the games I'd bought (and subsequently bought new cases for/etc) I did have to hairdryer off stickers from the inserts and books.
EB is essentially Canadian GameStop yes, including their gutting practice, which honestly doesn't bother me much since I rarely buy anything new from them fullprice.
Long as the case isn't dinged up if I am paying fullprice do I mind, and I usually pre-order anyways to guarantee an ungutted copy in 99% of the situations.
This is kind of OT, but I was wondering where the best place/website is to go for new releases? I always go to a gamestop 3 miles up the road for convenience. I've seen a few of you guys post lolznewgames@gamestop. Where is it you guys go to shop? I wanna save some money D:
Amazon?
Free shipping on new games, cheaper used games.
New releases? Try Steam
Steam not a good deal (i.e. you live in Poland, the U.K. other euro countries where publishers fuck you on downloaded copies)? Try one of their competitors just to be sure. Amazon has a DD service, or try direct2drive. EA has its own service but I can't recommend it yet for various reasons.
Still no? Get it shipped from Amazon
If you absolutely have to go into a retail store, Best Buy.
My 2 local Best Buys have horrible selections on PC games, and I live in L.A. I can't imagine it's any better anywhere else in the nation.
The plot thickens.
GameStop initially stood by its approach, saying in a prepared statement that while game boxes "may have been opened to remove the coupon, we fully guarantee the condition of the disc to be new."
But late Thursday, company spokesman Hodges said GameStop had changed its policy after talking with Square Enix.
Now, GameStop says it will not sell the opened DXHR packages -- in fact, it won't sell any physical copies of the game at all until Square Enix ships GameStop a version without the OnLive coupon. GameSpot will continue to sell its own digital version of the game in its stores and online.
Amazon.
Depends on the release though. Most larger releases are easily found at any retailer that sells games. Plenty of them do promotions (and even preorders) if you look. Some chains/locations are better than others, of course.
IE, I went to Target for Deus Ex. Got $10 off (in form of a Gift Card), plus I got Tatsunoko vs Capcom on clearance for $20 (used price at Gamestop.com: $26.99). Their clearance section is sporadic, but worth watching.
