GameStop intentionally removing Deus Ex OnLive coupons from retail PC copies

I'm not even sure why GameStop still maintains such a decently ran business, they have pretty shitty practices on just about everything.

And I agree with Isiolia-- and as a former employee of Target and the electronics section, their clearance is pretty got damn amazing at times. Some returned games even make the clearance aisle, depending on the policy in the area.

Since this obviously wasn't updated properly by the pitch forks, GameStop pulled all PC copy's off the shelves yesterday and they are being recalled. SE apologized and will credit them for the games. Also yeah, buying new games at GameStop for MSRP is retarded. K-Mart by far has the best deals of any retail chain since last May on new releases. Amazon if you prefer online shopping.

I buy new games from Gamestop because I am lazy and because I like immediate gratification. the nearest Target is a 30-minute bus ride away. the nearest Best Buy is a 30-minute ride in the other direction. Amazon takes buying, waiting for the game to arrive, and then finding a time when I can stop by my apartment office (I work the same hours they are available... shitty, I know!)

Gamestop is a 10-minute walk. that is really the only reason I go there. it's mostly for impulse buys.

however, this is making me rethink my shopping policies. and if you've made someone as lazy as me rethink the way I do things, you have REALLY fucked up. I just can't see supporting Gamestop after this shit, it's nothing short of outright thievery from their customers. I don't mind waiting for Amazon to ship shit if it means keeping my money out of Gamestop's coffers at this point.

Shits gay, to me that promotion was part of the product. They should just not sell it at all if they don't want to include the promotion. Aren't promotions included to sell more of the item?? Seems like a really retarded business move to me. Fuck gamestop in the ass though anyways, besides this, their open "new" games is enough to make me never want to shop there. Not exactly wanting to defend Gamestop here, but from what I read/heard, is that they would not have sold it if they knew the promotion was inside. But they were not told, and they ordered/bought the games only to find out. So instead of losing out on money or bothering SE with it, they decided just to remove it. They could have made a big fuss to SE when they found out, but they decided just to leave it alone, but then customers complained.(as they had a right to)

GameStop was not made aware of this inclusion and Square Enix respects the right of GameStop to have final say over the contents of products it sells and to adjust them where they see fit in accordance with their policies.

Square Enix invites gamers who want to purchase the PC version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution without additional coupons to buy the game at any one of over 4000 GameStop stores in North America or purchase a digital download copy online from www.gamestop.com.

Not seeing anywhere that SE is initiating a recall of any kind or accepting blame for the brouhaha. Not that I expect izembo to ever post sources. Corporate drones seldom do so.

Presumably, in the long run, Gamestop would probably have a voucher for their own service. Why you'd want to use the online service from Gamestop over someone who actually has to do a good job to win customers, I don't know, but that's probably the direction they'd want to go.

you just posted the exact thing showing that it isn't gamestops fault and there isnt legal action that can be pursued. gamestop isnt selling those copies anymore and future copies wont have the codes in them.

SE's statement does neither of these things. GameStop's decision to pull all the products from the shelves has, so far, not been reversed.

This is stupid and it sucks, but I wasn't the least bit suprised considering they've sold opened (and used) copies of games in the past as brand new. There are very few times I put myself in a Gamestop these days, I'll try to make it even less now. It's also why I refuse to take games from them without in the plastic and both security stickers on it. I don't know how many times they've tried to give me an opened game and I've had to refuse them for an actual unopened copy.

I pretty much buy everything at GS. Best Busy generally have special editions left over and more retail pc games so I usually get those there.
