Recently I have decided to regard Apple's societal phenomenon in a similar manner in which I regard religion: It is not the religion I have a problem with, it is the fan club.

Some of Apple's products are pretty sweet (albeit incredibly over-priced), but I try to disassociate myself with the brand lest some Apple superfan approach me to discuss how awesome Apple is all the time.

All that aside, Steve Jobs is a juggernaut in business and with his departure it will be interesting to see the results... God is dead, what will the faithful do?

You said in your statement that Apple created the market for smartphone. It's seriously a gross exageration as the technology already existed, and the market was already expanding when they joined . Did they speed up the the process, possibly, but giving apple the credit for this is simply ridiculous when it was something that was bound to happen.

Did I need to bold modern too? I mean, if you think iOS, Android, and webOS(lol) are easily compared to early blackberries and palmOS devices, there's nothing left to be said. iOS created the modern smartphone market. I think NOT giving them credit for this is disingenuous, and is a clear example of letting hate for their practices cloud judgement.

Also, as much as I dislike Apple products, I have to give credit to the iPhone as Android would not be where it is today without the competition.

blackberry will, until they no longer make phones, be THE business phone of choice, and they have been for the past decade plus

what the iphone has done is put the smartphone in the common consumer hands, before the iphone you didnt see everyone with smartphones, they did not create the smartphone category, they made it "magical" (god i feel sick now)

Except I don't think you do..3G model had 3G and the app store (it was always there since the 2G model)--and copy/paste was introduce later on via later iOS which can still be install on the 3G and give it the ability to copy/paste.

However, your idiot slavish devotion "and I don't care who knows it!" makes people like me, who generally likes their products for their relative merits, facepalm. Shit is situational, apple isn't always the answer, there are things Windows/Android/other tablets/other phone makers/other MP3 players do BETTER THAN APPLE.

Apple doesn't lead a torch into the wilderness and everyone else hopes to trail behind just to catch a glimpse of the light. Apple is pushed to "innovate" by it's competition as much as vice-versa. Your failure to acknowledge that, and especially your derisive comments about everything non-apple "the copypasta companies" are juvenile and pathetic.

You're reading what you want to read. I never said Apple is the best and everyone else sucks. I acknowledged already that Apple was challenged to make a better product and they in turn look forward to others pushing the envelope. The copypasta companies to which I refer are the ones that laugh at Apple when they launch a product then make a similar product when they see sales take off. They aren't trying to make better product. They are just trying to grab a share of an emerging market.

Know the difference in what I'm saying. Competition is good. Rushing products to market just to make a quick buck is bad.

As for my "idiot slavish devotion." You are right and wrong. Right in that I'm an idiot and I am a slave to my paycheck and the nice things they buy. But you're wrong about devotion because I would readily whore myself out for a bigger paycheck.

For the record, I have always qualified my statements in the past when I expressed opinions in other threads related to Apple. I also have disclosed when relevant that I am an employee so that people will take my words with a grain of salt. You can look it up if you want.
