Evangelion Q Quickening Film to Open Fall 2012

I just watched it.

My main problem with this movie is that none of the characters had enough common sense to just sit the kid down and explain what happened. Yeah, he fucked up, and yeah, they had other shit to do, but not even fucking Karou could properly explain what happened. It was as if Anno is trying to keep the secrets so close to his chest that he won't let any of his characters know them. I got the impression that no one wanted to tell him because they knew it would crush him, but that is not how it came across. They just went about their lives needlessly toiling away at their schemes while leaving him, and the audience, adrift. The original series slowly gave away the plot with each passing episode. You could feel that Kaji found something important, and that Misato was inching closer to the truth. You could connect with them because they felt real. I can safely say I did not connect with any of the characters in this movie apart from Shinji. Maybe that was the intention, but it didn't make for an enjoyable movie.

I want my Soryu back. At least she gave a shit about her Unit 02.

though I suppose being at ground zero and 14 years changes a lot of things, though I personally still think that whole timeskip is retarded

I forget who said it, maybe it was someone in this thread, but every problem that happened in that movie could have been solved with the support cast not being pants on head retarded and actually sitting Shinji down and telling him what the fuck. But I guess that would have been telling the audience as well and god forbid we know what's happening.

God, the more I think about it, the more sad it makes me. 1 and 2 were pretty great and then this movie happened. I spent the first part of the movie wondering what the fuck was going on, the 2nd part wondering what the hell was with the design and concept of the flying whale ship and the 3rd part not giving a fuck.

I get the feeling that this movie was a lot of set up for a payoff in the next movie. Doesn't make it feel like any less of a letdown after the long wait since the last one though.

The only problem I have with that is #5. When they blew up Kaworu, they said that it was blood type blue. They knew it was Kaworu, or more generally, the 1st/13th angel.

What's annoying is that they never explained what happened with Unit 06. Clearly some sort of bullshit went down with Lillith and Unit 06 after the end of the second movie, but we aren't privy to any of it because Shinji didn't know.

This whole movie could have been a lot better if the audience wasn't treated like Shinji.

They could have thought Shinji became an angel because of his contamination? I'm just guessing because they kinda weren't sure it was actually Shinji in the beginning, or at least talked to him that way.

At the end of the third, when they close the Door of Guf, what is that glowing object that's inside the Chamber of Guf?

And for that matter, the giant thing that was pulled up from the earth. It's been a while but to the best of my memory that wasn't in the original, right?

On the whole I didn't mind the 3rd movie. The music was much better paired for the scenes then the 3rd one was. (Couldn't stand the song selection at the end of the 2nd) I agree it's a cop-out not explaining how they stopped the third impact. It seems like they left the plot at the end of the 2nd movie and decided to go in a different direction, or something. I still liked the movie, and it wasn't that difficult to figure out what was going on.

Just saw it, movie pissed me the fuck off to no end. I could go on and list my rants, but everyone has already pretty much hit the nail on the head with what was wrong.

I don't get the logic going through Shinji's mind to be so damn adamant about pulling out the spears despite everybody around him telling him it's a bad fucking idea. They never elaborate at all on how they could be used to undo Near Third Impact's effects on the planet. I understood he wanted to make things right but it got to a point where he literally said fuck the world.

I guess Anno's theme for 3.0 was to piss everyone off in order to generate massive interest for answers in 4.0.
