My mother has lost it! (Meat related question)

My mom did the same thing when her (now deceased) husband was diagnosed with cancer. They got a lot of loaded "information" from a whole bunch of naturepaths and such that said similar things to them. The craziest thing I heard come out of her mouth was something along the lines of "chlorine absorbs through your skin, gets into your bloodstream and lacerates your veins", and then she bought filters for the shower/tap/everything water comes from. She pretty much loads up on everything organic, and spends a crapload of money at the supermarket. I called bullshit on everything but she doesn't listen. Oh well, I don't live at home anymore

^ this so much. wheat gluten, fermented beans, vegetable chum, etc will never taste better or make you feel as satisfied as good old pasture cow (or a fresh chicken if you are a non-redmeater).

@op, sounds like she is being taken for a ride by a snake-oil person that found the perfect place to peddle. reminds me of when an acquaintance 'discovered' goji juice.
maybe go to the store with her and try to show her that she can get all the crap they are selling cheaper and easier without the middle-man? i don't know where you live and what the grocery/market situation is like but you can get most of the fad diet crap these days in the larger grocery stores(maybe not walmart, idk). and every area has at least a few farms/butchers/farmer's markets that can supply families with more 'natural' foods.
