if you know a place where I can get shark skin and baby seal tongue suits for 1k please let me know so I can get my fix on cheap

don't even both with a suit if you're getting some moth-eaten piece of shit from the early 90s from a thrift store. some clothing items need to look like you give a shit, and they look silly otherwise.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

which is fine but you going on about people wanting the guy to buy a 1k suit is lol when no one said that.

I've never bought a suit through goodwill and female suits are vastly different than male suits so take this with a grain of salt, BUT when I first moved to cali and started doing interviews I bought a jacket/shirt/pants oddly enough at walmart (no I didn't specifically look for a suit there, was just going to get like a nice shirt and slacks, then noticed they had them and <3ed it), and it probably costed me about $100 for all 3.

Considering you don't wear them that often, I've had that set for 5 years now and it still looks good as new. So that's an option if you want cheap but new. It also tells me goodwill (or any second hand store) probably do have some nice ones in there, just because they aren't worn that often by a lot of people.

Last wedding I went to had a open bar. Was just cheap booze but who cares right? lawl

I wore pleated dress pants and a polo shirt. I guess that's bad for a wedding I don't know. I wasn't involved in the ceremony so maybe it doesn't matter.

Suits aren't just about fit either. Doesn't matter how well it fits if the fabric's shitty it will still look cheap.

tbh, I don't think it really matters anymore as long as you "dress nice". Most of the 30 and under people at my wedding just wore nice shirts + slacks, then the 30+ crowd had suits. I didn't pay any attention to it, and there was no gossip among guest of "look at what he's wearing!" or some shit.

Oh, I'm not advocating buying anything stupid like.. oh say, seersucker suits. Shit like that should have never been invented in the first place.

What you just said earlier Solanis, don't get a moth eaten piece of shit is exactly where I'm going. I bet you most of the things in Goodwill are just that. But at the same time, you can still get a nice suit that won't break the bank, and can get it tailored to make it fit you better. Material does matter, sure - but I honestly doubt anyone is gonna find a sharkskin suit at Goodwill . I hate the look of linen suits as they wrinkle too easily, and they look like they belong on a beach in Miami somewhere.

Also, for my job as a photographer (for weddings and commercial work) my suit has to be able to move with me and keep me cool and I have to be able to take off the jacket and still look professional. Sometimes if it's cool enough, I'll wear a nice vest, and when I take it the jacket off, the vest is there to sort of keep the professional look.

I think you could fit about 300 million americans into the chasm between these two opinions.

Just go to Men's Warehouse for wedding attire. You'll like the way you look. I guarantee it.

One more question - stockings yes or no?
Can I go without if I have open shoes or is that completely unacceptable? In Sweden, you wouldn't wear stockings to open shoes, in Czech Republic in the more conservative circles a lady never leaves the house barefoot.

I'd wear them just because it'll probably keep your legs warmer in November. That's just me though. I wear them sometimes with open-toe, depends how open the toe is though.

there's stockings with a hole in them at the toes for opened toe shoes if you hate seeing the seam at the bottom. I would recommend it same as aks because of weather.

[edit] I've used these in the past:

They're nice in that it's isn't as obvious like some of those that look like you got a belt around your foot or some shit.

I bought two suits, one for my dad and one for me, a few months ago. Men's Warehouse had a sale. Buy one get one half off or free, I can't remember which. Total was about 1200 bucks, because I also got a nice set of slacks and three sets of shirts/ties for each of us. And I sprang for the "starter kit" that has a cedar hangar and all that jazz, since it's my first suit. Was a really good deal on high quality stuff.

I have around 12 suits, 8 that I wear religiously for work. I used to buy suites and have them tailored to me, but they always look like shit if they are premade then tailored, hard finding a cut for 44" shoulders and 30" waist. All my current suits are fully custom tailored, and if you need a suit, don't short yourself, everyone man needs atleast one solid suit. Color wise, black or navy for your fist, black pin-stripe if not too outlandish, I prefer ghost pin-stripes myself.
