Are you actually buying, Foldy? I went back to farming Salvage again and have been cranking out some 80+ Alex runs, if you're interested in buying direct from the source! =p

I've mostly just been picking it up when I see it for less than 10k.

The Relic 2.0 currency price drop makes me think that the new nyzul *might* drop alex prices, even with increased demand, as *everyone* will be doing nyzul for the +5 gear, if it stays in it's current form and is available when the event goes live.

When is the actual version update? All I see are test server releases.

P.S. The only other ToA related update on that schedule is Einherjar.

Nah. I mean, the SCH updates were up on the test server 2-3 months before the Dec update that implemented them on the real server.

And they weren't tweaking them that whole time either, they basically sat unchanged.

We're still only seeing updates once every 3 months. I wouldn't expect anything that's already implemented to be pushed live until March or so, and everything that was added in Jan and Feb will go all at once.

Because there was many ppl w/o LSs that started to upg relic when it was going more and more realistic. Coins/gils farm was only cockblock for relics back in time. Mythics on the other hand have still many tasks that are cockblocks for those casual players who could actually buy Alex.

Ofc there are still ppl that will start to buy Alex and wont even think if they actually can complete everything else.

Overall tho for many ppl those other requirements beside Alex will be enough to not start a mythic.

To be fair the only real cockblocks right now are Alex supply and Einherjar. Everything else is now incredibly easy, if time consuming. Can trio 95% of the assaults, including Nyzul for tokens. Kings can all be lowmanned and ran over no problem. ZNMs are all a joke and have 100% droprate. People will have a hard time getting people for successful runs to build up to Odin, even is he's also easy mode. Extremely slow pace of Therion Ichor will also slow down people, even if some jobs (BLU, NIN, DNC, BST) can solo all 100k of it. Then theres the expensive-as-fuck alexandrite.

Combination of these tedious tasks, and the fact that everyone will be vying for +5 gear will make the price drop significantly for sure. I'm fully expecting 3~5k prices, if the drop rate in Nyzul is decent.

Really, all I'm hoping for out of this update is increased supply (so I can buy in stacks, rather than 15 here, 25 there) and a chance to get relevant gear while finishing off the 60k tokens I still need.

I sit on some odd 50 mil and 9k alex away from completion and hope for the same thing. Current prices just too high to work for.

SSR is easy 90-200 depending on how lucky you are with purses (and linen from chariot). Hammerblow > powderkeg > triple gears > turtle > chariot is the best alex farming route. I'm just hoping they follow through with their post about increasing alex drop rates from gears since SSR has so many of them.

So no one has any info on Alex drop rate on test server ATM?

I'm hoping regular mobs drop like alex with a small chance of cotton, NMs drop cotton with a small chance of linen, and floor bosses drop multiple linen.

The prices will no doubt drop considerably because there will be a much greater supply of Alex than when a handful of people did Salvage. Should the supply flood the market in far greater quantity than when Alex was first introduced, we might be able to see 3-4k prices like in the dupe days.

This would also depend on how much demand there may still be for Mythics. The lower price point might entice some people but the need to clear other quest/event requirements will space out the potential demand for Alex and may ultimately dissuade some from getting one as compared with the cheaper empyreans and simpler relics.

I'd personally be happy if they can be gotten anywhere below 6k

I will probably hop on later to test it out, I haven't heard anything yet though. I personally don't feel they will become extremely cheap like you suggest. Look at Dynamis prices for example right after it was newly revamped... The currency shot up to high prices and then starting to dip until AF2+2 came out and then they shot back up. I suspect that with everyone and their grandmama attempting to make a Mythic, the prices will still stay pretty high 8~10k but they will drop a little bit.

Even so, if you can effectively farm them through daily runs it would make it easier to get from doing it yourself. Hopefully you can net more alex thru 30min sessions with max of 6 people, even with Alex split equally.

Like say if each player could get 100 Alex per run, that'd be very decent rate. Kinda wishful tho.
Alternatively I'm hoping they introduce a higher denomination drop for Alexandrite, like a chipped Cats Eye being = 500, or having floor 100 having a very rare chance at dropping a Cats Eye

Prices only went up because no one knew how to proc, and still didn't know how to proc for 1-3months (this boards users aside).

Currency is 6-7.5k on Lakshmi, it hasn't been that low since I started playing this game. They may go up, but again even if it's just 10/alex a run, that's way more alex in the system than there has been since 2008. Once people realize 100k/150k isn't exactly easy, getting Captain x2 takes time and you can't do Nyzul for leet gears, etc, any increase is going to go away. Even if we only see 7k/alex that's a ton of money saved.

There were a ton of people doing Mythics when alex was 1-3k/alex, more than there are now when it's 10k/alex. The problem isn't increased demand but rather less supply.

Obviously it varies by server, but that does not apply to mine. The prices on my server are still 9~10k for currency and went pretty high after dyna was revamped. There are a ton of people upgrading relics so the price remains the same as the currency is taken very fast. I doubt that, a lot of people I see who are upgrading now don't even realize the einherjar/nyzul requirement and only see the Alex.

Dynamis Money stayed at a high price point simply because it was easy and many people took advantage of other casuals not knowing to practical ease of playing in Dynamis on BST or DNC. Once the general public finally caught on, the Dynamis currency bottomed out everywhere, but maintained a certain price point do to the realization that Relics are now easy to obtain.

Alex will bottom out because of those stats on the +5 gear. So many people will be doing Nyzul constantly for those updated sets. Hell, I also expect the same shit that went on when Nyzul was introduced... huge fucking lines just to do a single Nyzul assault for an entire month. That's gonna happen again, lol. Shame Square fails at proper instancing. Like Churchill said, tons were doing Salvage for extended periods of time (esp JP) and prices never went higher than 4k on most servers. Those times will definitely come back, if not lower than before. The other angle is that once people start spamming Nyzul, no one will be able to sell Alex at obscene rates, and the price will drop dramatically (there will be 5 sources of Alex to pool from).

I beleive alot of the reason dynamis currency stayed high for so long is because demand also shot way up since it was now apparent everyone and there mother could make a relic. And on this server at least it stayed high long after people caught on. In fact bronze peices continued to rise pretty much until they added af2+2.

Yes that is why I feel the same will happen to Alex, even with the other requirements necessary for a Mythic. I do agree the price will drop though ,that is most definitely welcomed.

The problem is there's 30k alex to finish so those fools will keep buying as long as they can... and it's not exactly hard to make gil now. The lack of supply currently is almost as much of an issue as the price really.

It's more like 75-175, but yeah. I kill all the archaic machinery along the path as well and linens are not uncommon.

I disagree. I'm 5/23 on linens with TH6. 70-75 alex is about right for when no linen happens though.

Well, the price was the direct result of less supply, so its a roundabout problem anyways. And you're pretty much right about those stubborn types that buy regardless of a falling price, lol.

I'm guessing the magic number of possible Alex per run would have to be around 30~50. Prices would fall through the roof, and the supply would be everywhere.

I posted it a couple of pages back but Ive done a couple of runs now of the new Nyzul and havent got a single alex yet. Its hard to do so many floors on the test server as you're nearly always stuck solo, but the first run I did I covered 4 floors solo. Kill All > Kill Impossible to Gauge > Kill all > Leader. Second run Ive done now I covered 3 floors, Kill Family > Kill All > Lamps (boo hoo time out). Always going as BLU/nin, no TH set, I've never had a single alex drop in any form, not from normal mobs, not from "leader" floors, not from Archaic Ramparts.

I've not been able to fight any normal NMs, any Gears, or any floor 20/40/60 boss etc, and it may just be having dreadful luck on everything else.
