With how much defense and VIT these pieces are getting, some of the lower level PDT pieces might become inferior in a damage taken set, just because of the much, much lower defense stat.
In addition, we might need to start looking at defensive utility for new pieces vs pre 100 pieces. Even if a pre-100 piece gives you say, 2% damage increase over a current piece (due to haste or store tp or something), the new piece might give you 7% survivability increase, for example, due to much, much higher defensive stats.
Will this be true though? I thought I saw someone mention in another thread mobs evasion gaining more skill per level then before. This seems to be just giving us equal skill to compensate. It would explain why even with gungnir/sole sushi I still didn't have capped accuracy even on normal birds at hurkan wildskeeper. I only had about a 75-80% land rate on Geirskogul on hurkan as well. Without sushi it was more around 30%
I don't ever recall needing so many accuracy buffs at an event before. New delve and such may still need a hunters roll or a SV madrigal.
Upukirex is getting something like +242 Polearm Skill, which would be about 217 accuracy. That is enough to move you from the accuracy floor to the ceiling (20% to 95%). So yeah, not only do you not need Sushi at Hurkan, you wouldn't need some of your Acc as well (like all of the Acc on Gungnir). Honestly, it looks like SE is moving FFXI towards "wear whatever is fashionable and the stats will sort themselves out."
well looking at the bring side, instead of all weapon REM obselete (for now) you also have instruments joining the "useless REM" list (for now again)
easier gameplay, lesser PT swapping for cor brd, 2 songs brd giving chance to do events yay happy family?
I am actually more depressed, those weapon updates made basicly all gear upgrades I proceeded to get invalid or useless to some degree ¬.¬
I mean look at atanian staff, I could just go on and toss my bokwus legs and boots with m.acc augments into the trash. +180 m.acc on the staff autocaps you on anything delve related

The stats on equipment with item levels displayed will be adjusted.
If both item level and "combat skill+" are present on the item you equip as a main weapon, the following will be affected:
The number of Utsusemi shadow images consumed from physical AoE attacks
The interruption rate on spell casting
The strength of enemies level 100+ will display differently when inspecting them while having an item with item level 100 or above equipped.

Makes sense kinda. Well the interrupt rate does anyways. Since that was mostly a function of lvl unless you didn't cap skills or actually wore some skill gear. Shadows was more a function of evasion/parry checks first though I thought
No, the number of shadows AoE physical TP skills take away directly depends on your ninjutsu skill. There's a random factor in there too, but skill helps a lot.
And by December in Delve 3 you'll be at 50% resist rate. The only thing that should be taken from this news is to hoard everything. Hoard until the piles of greatswords and goofy hats fall on top of you and the Firefighting Coalition finds your bloated corpse with the eyeballs eaten out by your now feral moogle.

When the weapon you equip in your main hand possesses both "combat skill +" and displays an item level, the number of Utsusemi shadows consumed when being attacked will be reduced and spell interruption rate will be lowered.
