I dunno, waiting until hidden effects surface before drawing the conclusion on which is better. Relics getting a higher weaponskill damage boost seems likely enough, whereas empyreans getting anything can't really be accounted for.
@ Karbuncle: yeah, I derped.
Looks like the glowy GKT is following the same pattern as Talekeeper/Sagasinger. The delay on it is also nice and terrible.
Ok ok let's stop here lol. I am more than sure that Prothescar just did a math mistake. None normal will pay 1M for those plates. Sure few freaks might for the first month or something but when we figure out the easiest way to get them and where are the pouches I bet the price will be around 50k probably. 80M sounds fair for a (in most cases) best weapon in the category compering to what you need to pay for relic and mythic. In the end all 3 groups (relic/empyreans/mythics) can be close in both difficulty to get and power of weapon itself. Ofc we could only dream that they will balance it enough to really make it equal but I like to be optimist. Having Empyrean/Relic/Mythic equal on parse when using them with different strategy and all of them winning in different situations ( equal in proportion ie: Relic win for 33% events mythic for other 33% etc. ) sounds good. On the other hand that would be a real challenge for ppl that love to play this one favorite job and trying to get everything for it
EDIT: I followed by Karbuncle did a math mistake too. 1M for plate would be 1 500 000 000 not 150M. Looks like a derp sunday today :D It actually possible that 1500 plates would cost 150M if they sell for 100k. So in the end that was only a half derp on your part Prothescar
Yeah, little math mistake. Kind of. I added an extra 0 to 1500.
All in all I hope they do balance out the difficulty on the three types of weapons, and likewise have them all on relatively equal footing in terms of strength. Sure there'll be a bunch of gimp aurore kannagis crying that they can't bring their katana to 99, but oh well.
I think having plates in VW is the best thing square could do to bring action back to walk of echos.
Fearing the worst about the drop rates it feels like a bait and switch. Here, take this awesome weapon that will outclass everything. Oh and it takes a fraction of the time to complete as its relic/mythic counterparts. Then after everyone has 1-4ish of them all of a sudden they are set to take more work than relics.
Something had to change. You couldn't have the best weapons of relic/mythic/emp be so much easier to attain. I think most people were assuming that SE would buff relic/mythic weapons. Instead, they may have just upped the amount of work a 99 emp will take while letting them remain (for the most part) solidly ahead of the others. Only problem is it pretty much pulls the rug out from under people's feet who don't want to put in 200M into a weapon (probably the vast majority of emp holders). Not only that, there is no guarantee that we won't get new weapon skills at 99 that will trump relic/mythic/emp ws and will render the emp aftermath completely worthless.
Rule of thumb, always fear the worst when it comes to SE!
4 years ago I joked about "what if you had to craft pieces of a morrigans robe like sleeves, front, back then tie it in all together and it could blow up and fail." Fast forward to FF14's crafting system, feared the worst, got the worst.
Meh, it might seem like a bait and switch, but nobody says you have to spend 200M to buy up Heavy Metal Plates instead of, say, doing Voidwatch for a few months. Also, this will make some people with 4-5 Empys prioritize which one to bring to Lv. 99, making the weapons rarer and more valuable as a whole.
Maybe. It's not really the spirit of what empy's are though. While I'll personally be selling all of my plates until the tears fill the OF (assuming the worst) and some change happens, I still don't personally feel that making a large/painful time sink requirement for empy's is really what they're about. In most cases, the Empy is what makes a job passable, not what makes it an "elite" job. Take SAM for example - sure, Fudo is fucking ridiculous but the alternative is just as ridiculous in an alternate sense of the word. WAR is really the only job that can use a non-Emp weapon and still rape shit. (Pre-edit: RNG to an extent as well)
Whether this means x/y/z need to be changed so this isn't the case, or the trial needs to be changed, I don't personally care. However, to make it so easy to get things and then to 180 the requirements is sort of asinine, especially considering it lies in a system that few people/linkshells currently do, in a game that is so close to the end and has no announced true expansions planned for the future.
I don't think the game is close to dying, they will drop ps2 support soon and make a full blown expansion to the far east. I don't think they will let this game die so easily. Also I don't think they will make the requirements to obtain Lv95 that difficult... there must be a lot of items or pouches that will drop. I don't see how an additional +2 stat and some base dmg will require so many items unless there is a hidden effect.
Probably a little late to ask, but has anyone done a fight against Belphoebe/Murk-Veined/Celaeno on the test server?
One problem with them that's been cropping up with my LS on the normal servers is all three of the are extremely stingy when it comes to red hint messages, almost giving zilch for a good 75% of the fight while we try to force some of the blue hints to cycle in a red one. If we don't get a highly-vulnerable red from the get go it's usually a wash.
took down test version of part II charts in favor of posting real ones for actual release.
Here
and in my sig ^^
looks good, thank you Spira ^^
slight bump.
i havent heard anyone mention anything about VW3 on the test server tho its been out for like a month
anyone tried anything and could report on it? would be nice to know anything. trying to compile for upcoming VW3 release
yeah isnt that stuff on the test server ? could have swore i saw people talking about it
Wasn't only the first half of CH3 on or something?
Some people tried some of the mobs but there was very little info because it was just one or two people so they were dying before they could really see anything. Only thing I remember of note is that the book mob seems to only cast spells (no TP moves). Since most of the more difficult Voidwatch stuff doesn't actually become difficult until the move set changes at lower HP, it's not likely that we'll really learn much before people start doing this after the real server update.
