Is it possible to wet the area near the nest so that if you do a controlled burn just that area will burn and the rest of the shit near it will be far less likely to burn if its saturated in water?

Fuck that. If I even get close to a nest of any kind of wasp/hornet/bee while cutting the grass until it's too late the grass just doesn't get finished until I'm in armor and have a gallon of spray. That or I see an opening and can ninja my mower out of the infested spot. I had too many traumatizing experiences getting stung when I was younger to try to bare hand that shit now <_>

It frightens me that this thread jumped to three pages. Sorry no video. Opened up with a salvo of wasp killer and watched the little assholes fly around. Covered up in jeans and a hoodie and grabbed the gas can. Dumped about half a gallon down the hole and chucked in a book of matches and listened to the gratifying whoof sound as it ignited. Let it burn for about five minutes until it started creeping out of the hole and down the hillside. Stomped it out. Followed up with another salvo of wasp killer right into the hole. Then I buried them. Alive.

I know they are burrowing insects. I just wanted to seal them in with the smoke and wasp spray. I checked about twenty minutes later and there were about three dozen of them swarming around right above what was left of the hole. We'll find out if it works tomorrow when I try to cut the grass. Sorry, no Uncle Brill Weave vs. the Yellowjackets story.
