Wedding coming up and considering getting teeth whitening. Do the 3d Crest strips work? How much is it to get it done by a dentist? There is this stand @ the yearly fair that charges $100 to get it done. Should I do it? My teeth aren't horrible, but not super pearly white. I don't smoke cigarettes but i do drink coffee. Teeth are straight after years of torture with braces. XD.

Those 3d crest strips are amazing. You'll easily notice a difference within 2 weeks, if not sooner.

I had a fair amount of success with the Rembrandt 2-Hour whitening kit, though I stretched it into two separate sessions since I have pretty sensitive gums and have experienced pain with whitening strips in the past. I paid $200 for the custom trays at the dentist. So worth it. So far it's lasted me 3+ years and I'm not even done with 2 of the 4 tubes of whitening paste they gave me. I do it once every 2-3 months and people always notice my teeth are white.

Edit: I also drink coffee religiously and smoke socially

We have Groupon in Canada >_> We're not some fucking backwater.

But yeah, try your dentist first or keep an eye out for coupons (Groupon, Swarmjam, etc) - they pop up pretty frequently every week or two in my city. To my understanding, the OTC stuff like Crest Whitestrips don't really have all that much active ingredients in them and the long-run cost for them is very high.

Can always try the home remedy mixing 1 part each of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide (can get at any pharmacy for a few bucks) and brush your teeth with that paste. Baking soda acts as an abrasive and the hydrogen peroxide actually does the whitening. Brush on, let stand for two minutes or so, then rinse off with warm water. Repeat twice a day. Obviously, don't swallow any of it. This way will cost about a nickle or less per application and is pretty much what's in the OTC products, less flavouring and gelatin.

They custom fit the trays to your mouth with a gel mold type thing, and then make the trays for you, so you end up with a retainer that is an exact replica of your mouth that your teeth fit into. There are 4 tubes of the gel/paste whitening stuff. You squeeze a bit of it into the tray, pop your teeth in, keep it in for 30 mins while you clean the house/play a video game/whatever, brush it off, and voila. Here's what they look like:

3d crest white strips are the most effective store bought solution for what it's worth(based on personal experience and every review site you'll find on the subject).

Pro-tip from a dental hygienist: Find out if there's a local dental hygiene school near you. Typically senior level students can do clinical whitening. You'll pay the bare minimum because it's done at cost, and you'll get a cleaning/polishing out of it.
Also, your teeth will look ten times better when you're bleaching your actual tooth and not just bleaching the calculus/stain that you let build up on it.

Same results as others using 3D crest strips. I noticed an immense (yes, immense) difference within two weeks but my teeth hurt when I put a lot of pressure on them. I'd say it's worth the minor annoyance though. =)
