Going forward, and for other people who are reading, it never hurts to ask the company to match a promotional price for you.

I have BrightHouse in Orlando, and I was paying something like $120 per month for cable/internet when they offered the same deal to new subscribers for $99 (temporary rate, expires after a year or so). I called, asked, and the guy said he'd check because some promotional codes can be applied to existing subscribers, and some can't. This one could, so he applied the promotion. He also said to watch in about 9-10 months to see if they offer a promotion again (which they probably will), and ask again at that point (which I probably will).

Game of Thrones is super legit same with Boardwalk Empire... a lot of people love True Blood some hate it since it's vampires they lump it in with Twilight etc, I'm a fan of True Blood but not really any other vampire stuff

Odd. In Orlando and have Bright House as well. When I axed TV (I'm never home to watch it, and my promotional offer was about to expire), they said they didn't have any promotional offers to give.

Guess I should have said something.

    (also Bright House is terribad)

Idk had Brighthouse in Ocala and as far as cable internet goes theirs was great, way better then suddenlink I have now, which is still way better then comcast, but every week we had to call Brighthouse because like clockwork all of our digital and HD channels would say we weren't subscribed to these channels and to call customer service to order them, and that was with them switching out the HD DVR twice. :/

No. When I had FiOS, I lived in a single story home with no basement. They'll install it outside.

Furthermore, when you move out, your landlord can advertise that FiOS is available at his complex, and that your apartment is already equipped for it. In this day and age, that's a huge selling point. Therefore, I highly doubt your landlord will mind in the least, but if they do, spin it that way. People do search for it on Craigslist; it's a definite bonus.

I fucking hate all of you as I went to Fios to see what the fuss was about and found out it doesn't exist in my area.

This alone made me hate cell phones - that any annoying fuck can expect to reach me on demand 24/7 for any stupid bullshit.

    - Text messages. I hated the entire texting culture. Especially when people reply to texts with "lol" "k"... or send out texts saying "sup?"... or text you "hello???" or "u there???" if you don't answer their first dumbass text in 3 minutes or less.

    - Found myself just leaving the godforsaken thing at home all the time when I went out, to which someone asked "what's the point of having a cell phone?" - I replied with "good point".

I haven't missed the "convenience" of cell phones since I stopped using one over two years ago. If anything - it just pisses other people off to no end because they can't call me up or text me to verify something like an obscure Simpsons reference while I'm out on a date or at a Red Sox game.

    Anyway...

I was without a cell phone for almost 3 years, shit was liberating as fuck, I really only love my smartphone because it's a mini computer, not because it texts/calls

Yeah - so funny when I pull out my iPod at work and my boss sees it. Immediately, "so you DO have a cell phone" - I'm like... "nope, iPod"...

Those bitches drool at the prospect of having me at their beck and call 24/7, but it's not gonna happen.

It wasn't called a promotion, but it was a different advertised price for new subscribers, and it was lower than the price I was paying as a 4+ year subscriber. I was calling anyway to cancel my movie channels (in favor of Netflix) and asked why new customers get to pay less than loyal long-term customers like me. It worked enough for my liking.

It's free if you already have a subscription to HBO. I never actually watch HBO on the tube. No reason to when I can watch whatever I want whenever I want.

Wish more companies would follow suit.

Heh, I have my personal cell phone, and work gave me a second cell phone since were a public service agency and required to be first responders when California decides that it doesn't want to be attached to the rest of the united states. My previous employer, I just flat out told them I take care of my grandmother on my days off, call me if you want, but don't get pissy if I'm busy and say no. They never called me in on my days off

wtf do you work? If it's such an important job to be on call why don't they just give you a company phone or fire your ass if you refuse to accept one?

My friends only had a cellphone for a short period then got rid of it since land lines are way cheaper. They aren't poor but they are like...super hippies? They are obsessed with not having things they feel they don't need otherwise they feel spoiled and that makes them feel bad. Anyway, so ya it was kinda fun to see them when they came out for the wedding. They actually bought road maps to cali (didn't know they still sold those) and used them to get everywhere. It's definitely not that serious to not have a cellphone. Though I do love my gps, I think if I got rid of my phone I'd have to buy a tomtom or something.

I spend like $3-5 a month on a pre-paid if that. Given the number of scenarios in which a cell phone could be life saving or at least make a shitty scenario infinitely easier, I honestly don't understand people who don't get one for at least emergencies. They say it's out of principal, when in all of reality, you should have one out of principal. /shrug.

Edit: Not to mention that most pre-paids will still connect to 911 regardless of whether it's "active." So you could get one that you never spend a dime on other than initial cost.

Not most, all cell phones by federal law need to be able to dial out to 911.

I have a old sprint cell phone in my glove box, that I charge once a week just for 911 calls if its ever needed.

Does not matter what service the cell was for. As a 911 call is picked up by whichever cell tower is closer to you, no matter what company owns the tower. It's usually why your cell phone can say no service, but can still dial 911 with no problem.
