I would normally agree with Economizer, I rarely see shouts (during EU time) for Provenance and when I do I don't trust the person leading it as far as I can throw them (ie Raymore).

People ask what the best DD is on BG, thread turns into 30 page debriefing on many job's popssible and best gear sets, which events they are good at, all including hard math and spreadsheets and shit. Ask it anywhere else, it's PUPs and RDMs arguing over who has the biggest epeen within the first two or three pages.

Perhaps true of the PUP commentary there, but RDMs seem more tempered (pun intended?) in knowing they're not a top dog, ultimately contributing to requests for improvement over the years. 75 cap WHM being "better" than RDM was also a sore spot. Calling some out on the then and now doesn't seem too far-fetched, even if none is particularly status quo.

Unfortunately rules are a bit more stringent on there as far as how admins are supposed to moderate posts/topics. Unlike on here, where a topic viewed as being "stupid" can be locked/deleted immediately because it is just that (stupid), unless the topic violates one of our forum rules, we can't lock or delete a topic. That's just how it is.

IDK, I think there should be one safe haven for unbelievably dumb topics to thrive. Alla seems like the place. the Official forums could work but... Right now, If Alla changed their rules to ban stupid, People would just hate on BG more because the mentality would be we somehow influenced it.

In reality, We would likely have been the source... But uh... Still, Its hard enough trying to explain to normal people BG isn't a cesspool of hate and trolling, if we caused Alla to become BG2.0 by banning stupid, It'd just be all the more worse.

In reality, Some of the people who believe BG is Evil are probably too stupid to remember to breathe, But i met a lot of good, skilled players who avoided BG out of the fact they felt it wasn't a place to get information, just a place to troll and flame. Its hard trying to break a stigma .

That's not something I could change, since these are the rules governing all the sites we support (XI, XIV, WoW, The Old Republic, Rift, etc).

The way I see it though, as Karbuncle said, there needs to be a place for those topics to thrive, since everyone needs an outlet, and not everyone is going to start at "BG" level playing quality as many would likely say. They're two very different communities and they will always be two very different communities, and I'm sure that most of you would rather have the "stupid" topics and ideas on Alla rather than the official forums since that's the primary source of feedback for the dev team.
