Am I the only one who's uncomfortable with people provoking this guy for their own amusement? It's not like he's just your average run-of-the-mill internet douchebag - from the posts/blogs of his that I've read and judging by the whole Debbie Gibson thing it sounds like he's got some pretty serious mental health issues. I get why people find it funny to troll him and elicit ridiculously over the top responses from him, but I don't like it. I think it's really quite distasteful to intentionally rile up someone who's clearly disturbed in some way just so you can get a cheap internet-laugh.

Truthfully, I disagree with those stating that the Starcade mockery doesn't fit into this thread, and there's a few reasons: one, a thread strictly dedicated to him would be dead, more often than not; two, it's within this thread that people often expect to follow links and read potentially paragraphs' worth of text, a la Starcade's blogs. It's the most appropriate place, given those facts; it doesn't offer gear screenshots, so it wouldn't fit in there, and so on, so forth. (Really, it's a stretch that this thread is in the Media forum to begin with, but that too is a loose classification based on the correlation it has with the Fail/WTF-style discussions.)

I would say it's as distasteful to post pictures of people's awful gear and have a laugh at their expense, as the majority of them are ordinary people who will forever remain none the wiser, but there are surely some just as insane and easily enraged as Starcade. Hell, we've seen it whenever such a goober has raged forth onto BG to register an account and launch spittle at everyone.

I'm fully aware of Starcade's clear disconnect with the rest of the world, and his undoubtedly continued ignorance of his disassociation, but I view him no differently than the average Internets nutbag. He just happens to have a blog.

That's the point. Was it just an ordinary person then I don't think people would care, but as drwaffles said it's highly possible that he actually has mental health problems. Mocking people with disabilities has never really been that cool.

We don't know whether anyone ever being posted has mental disabilities or not. If everyone is genuinely concerned that we're stepping into anthills, we can eliminate all chances of that happening by not mocking anyone whatsoever.

As I said in my earlier post, the only thing that makes Starcade different is the fact that he has a blog. As such, we hear more of his inner thoughts. There are surely plenty of other people who are similarly disturbed, but they either don't have blogs or we're unaware of them, hence the ignorance. Nonetheless, they're mocked. I see only hypocrisy in saying that a greater awareness of Starcade's inner workings means he should be exempt.

If people are frightened of him, that's one thing. You shouldn't throw fuel onto a fire you don't want to tangle with. Anyone who couldn't care less, though, probably will.

So you are happy to mock people, whether they have some sort of problem or not? Maybe I'm reading it wrong but what you wrote suggests either that, or that you don't like to mock anyone at all to me, and considering you were going on about Asura and Starcade earlier, I doubt it's the latter.

Note I'm not defending starcade, obviously there's a difference between mocking someone for something directly caused by their disability, and mocking someone who uses their disability as an excuse to be a dick. Idk which bracket starcade falls into, so am generally keeping well away.

My thing is that it's just honestly not that damn funny. I don't find insane ramblings to be entertaining. If some dude were standing on a street corner spouting off nonsense about cheaters and hackers, I wouldn't laugh at him, I'd probably feel a bit sorry for him. There's a difference between making fun of someone's NQ amemet (lol) and making fun of someone's mental disability.

And I do disagree that it belongs in this thread. This thread was funny when we were talking shit about the people saying that haste is ridiculous and people who have no concept of gear swapping. That's kind of what the thread is about. You're not mucking up the gimp thread with this shit, because it doesn't belong there. I'm saying it doesn't belong here either. Who cares if you start a thread and it dies? That probably proves that only a handful of people find it worth talking about.

I'll admit I started off making fun of him too. But now I see that this guy really just needs to get help. Making fun and trollbaiting isn't going to accomplish anything. God forbid if he actually does snap again due to something someone here says. If you're not going to try to help him, then giving him attention is just making the problem worse.

i'm happy to come to this Elitist site, 90% of the game math is done here all new content is used and tested here by players, been elite themselves makes the content easier then your normal average Joe but they work on ways to actually get it done and 9 times out 10 are willing to post there finding on how its done, OF is just a daycare center for the babies who just need to be put to sleep for a very long time....

Plenty of math is/was done on alla or OP first. On top of my head, motenten spreadsheets and his first mnk DPS calculations, cure formulae and pdifs formulae. This forum is no longer what it used to be, 90% of the people here are idiots none of them have a clue math wise. Also it's pretty hilarous to mention that 90% of the math is done here when when the game is owned by JPs.
