As much as I'm in favor of a good Korpg trolling (that guy annoys the piss out of me too), he did answer the OPs question correctly and intelligently, and you did not. The OP was an innocent bystander in this, and while it may be funny to us, that kind of thing really doesn't do anything to help dissuade people from thinking of BG as a bunch of trolls, and it increases Korpg's credibility. I don't know if that's the best direction to take...
As Byrth said later (somewhat) there's no way I'm answering a 3rd party question on the OF. While I agree with you, I'm not in a PR contest with Koprg and he shit himself into a well on his own shortly after actually helping someone. Currently, he's trying to play the martyr while damning his persecutors, and while I'm not going to continue to troll that thread (for some of the reasons you stated) I'll continue to counter shit from the two most prominent retards where applicable.
Edit: And this discussion has been had before, basically, but in any thread where we are arguing with Pchan/Analhelm/Koprg those topics could all be argued as innocent bystanders so the options are to a)not post at all or b)post, and start shit.
The difference (sometimes) is that one of us posts useful or not trolling/inflammatory information and other times we are responding to stupidity from them that was in response to not trolling/inflammatory information. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Edit2: and now Pchan shows up
I've been on BG for a bit and I can't remember the last time (or the first) I was told to use third party software. It's just another example of someone who's never been here claiming to know what goes on here.
Just like those fuckers over at the GEforums demanding your home address when posting.
Edit: Also where is that button to buy Guildwork? I don't see one on the front page.
Kinda respondy to some of the retardation over there / themoreyouknow.jpg:
As far as I'm aware BG has always held the position of "We're not the goddamn Morality Police". People are welcome to express their opinions about third party programs on this site. However, we will, as stated, ban the fucking shit out of someone trying to post links to said programs. Fuck that shit: it's your business if you wanna sleep with a nasty-ass hooker, but we're not going to give you directions to her corner so you can try blaming us when unholy hooker weasels infest your junk. And if people want to cry about Stan's guild program then they should probably start boycotting ffxiah. And excel.
Secondly, we have unfortunately no fucking control over what ads get displayed. Protip: log in, ads go away.
I'd actually like to know what 3P App it is that uses hex codes like that. All the BG stuff I've written/seen has been Pebble's non-hex version.
Reading comprehension where?
I'd emphasize, but holy shit it's right there in plain text. DISCUSSION IS OKAY, LINKS ARE NOT.Originally Posted by Pchan

Edit: You win this round, frenchy.
Because Pchan sees discussion as encouraging people to use them. To him there's no line between "pointing someone to a 3rd-party tool so they can download/use it" and "discussing the potential/uses of one you have without encouraging people to use it." Technically it is a bit of a fine line, but meh. I see the difference.
No No. He thought that Pchan was saying that links are allowed and discussion is not. Which made that all kinds of fail and win.
The problem is people like Pchan see "discussing" as "forcing," and reads things like "Well this is what Windower does and this is how you can use it" as "You must download this program and use it if you have any hopes of living up to our impossible BG-ian standards." To him, Starcade, and others, they truly believe that just by posting here you not only agree to look the other way when it comes to 3PP (which most do) but to partake in them. To these people it is a question of absolutes. Whereas the line has always been drawn at, "Do it if you want, this is what it does, but do it at your own risk, we're not responsible if you get banned," they somehow misinterpret that as, "DO IT DO IT DOWNLOAD WINDOWER YOU MUST DOWNLOAD WINDOWER AND BUY GIL AND BOT OR YOU SUCK."
And I don't think there's anyone in the game at all who thinks that, posting here or otherwise.
...
...I am the winner. God dammit, thanks.
Edit: I'm shifting some of the blame on his awkward phrasing, though! Or something...
To clarify (though it doesn't look like I need to), Pchan was saying "I don't understand how linking to a program is considered 'encouraging' the use of it, but discussion of a program isn't?" i.e. calling into question the notion of where the line is.
Just like when I say I like that alcohol makes me drunk by affecting my brain, I am actually advocating for everyone everywhere to drink all the time, and if you don't drink then I hate you and am superior to you.
I was initially going to PM you and ask how, it took me several re-readings to figure out what you mean. At first I thought you were calling me out for the awkward phrasing of the sentence itself, but I got a laugh out of it once I realized exactly how dumb I was there.
I'm just so used to things Pchan writes being mostly-english and sometimes needing to be interpreted prior to consumption. THAT'S MY EXCUSE AND I'M STICKING TO IT.
I swear it's like talking to a bunch of kids who ate lead paint over there.
why do pchan korpg and anal helm run away when ever you give them a logical and truthful statement that would require an educated rebuttal? *well not so much pchan hes prob busy searching every thread bg has ever made for an expectation.
