I was bored at work today and decided to dig a little deeper into the general discussion forum than I should have. I take back what I said about it getting better. If you told me some of those threads were started by a chimp or a bottle nosed dolphin I wouldn't even be impressed.
Hey, now.
Dolphins are pretty smart.
A long time ago I posted this here: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/th...-are-300-skill
- pointing out how the OP said absolutely none of the nin AF pieces are needed for nin now, which made me facepalm.
2 days ago, s/he posted this in the same thread:
My forehead hurts now, I facedesked so hard. Posted a reply, but... Someone PLEASE rip this person a new one. -.-
Wow and talk about a necro bump at that. Someone apparently takes forever to read posts made to them months ago.
Woooooow
Edit: proper link
Brainthink not doright. halp.
I can understand a little bit about this when it comes to bringing optimal jobs. Like back in the promyvian fights, I heard people talk about how easy it was if you brought 4-6 smn, and refused to redo the fights if you had less. (Also reminds me of a walkthrough I read for GTA3. Almost all the tips started the same. "Its easy. First input the tank code....")
But yeah, the part about "the gear you wear and weapon you use" being easymode is pretty confusing.
This guy is still going.

I unfortunately can't post in reply (due to not having my security token on me to log in), but I like how he completely misses the point regarding Adventure Fellows and the fact there isn't really anything worth farming (for gil/hr) that you can use them on. He then talks about how he specifically uses a gk on his fellow to skillchain with his THF. Which means he needs saved TP. Which means not only lost WS frequency from over-TPing, but also lost "skillchains" if he bothers to swap Thief Knife and lose his stored TP right before his fellow WS's.
Also, somehow SE is using TH to fix their in-game economy and people on the forums are pushing their "populace agenda".

SE should implement a small ffxi-related IQ test before people are allowed to post.
1.) What % does haste cap at?
2.)If Given the choice, would you rather use a Magical based WS, or a physical based WS?
3.) Can WS's that do not have "deals critical damage" Crit? (assuming no Sneak Attack)
4.) Generally what elemental spell tends to do more damage? Ice or Water?
ectectect....
Answers I assume that would be given
1. Haste is not needed, you can play perfectly well without swapping gear.
2. I would assume elemental because it combines damage from physical and magic damage.
3. Yes using atmas, for example using razed ruin that adds 30% crit damage would give you a 30% increase regardless if the ws can crit or not.
4. Water, you learn it earlier so you'll have more practice at it.

Unless I missed something, he posted his gear in the wrong thread?
