I think it's fine, but a lot of people are Camate apologists. In my opinion, it's insulting to post some of the things he does in the threads he does in response to what he does, regardless of if he's being directed to post those exact things.

If something doesn't answer the question, respond to the problem, address the issue, then it has no business in the thread. If that's the answer you are getting, you are not working hard enough to get a real answer or you are relaying the questions improperly.

The CRs are paid to relay whatever bullshit the devs hand them and they gets to decide what thread to dump the payload of shit in. Sometimes the answers don't answer the players concerns but who's fault is that? Camate and the other reps might as well be robots because they aren't doing much more than being messengers.

When people bash the community reps its like... why? They have to give the "answers" to us no matter how off-course they are as part of the job they're tasked to do.

If you feel insulted recognize who's insulting you - the Japanese devs who come up with the answers. All of us know by now you could be sitting with Tanaka in a room speaking fluent Japanese and he'd still give you horse shit for an answer when pressed so what makes you think the community reps communicating via electronics are going to fare better?

I don't think bashing them is right, but I also see nothing wrong with that post. I think it's perfectly normal to feel that way, as we all do, and voice it to the person who actually interacts with the devs.

As far as my statements in this and other topics, the crux of my issue lies in exactly what you said - I will never understand the being robots thing. I could never in good faith post some of the answers we've seen. Maybe that means I'd be terrible at being a word regurgitation machine, but I feel there is more that could be done to get us answers.

As was stated in the dev tracker thread: they're getting a paycheck for basically doing nothing. I'm pretty sure actually going to the devs saying "hey, um...this doesnt really make sense, how about you give me something better to tell them instead of this steaming pile of shit" is just going to cause them to lose that paycheck.

To be perfectly honest, I'm still not entirely convinced that the reps even get paid (or paid more than part time/peanuts). They're certainly not salaried employees. I highly doubt they're given 40 hours/week in office/clock time. It's probably a lot closer to pseudo-volunteer work than anything else, certainly not a primary job.

Being a community rep is something you do because you like the game. Camate always seems to be getting the brunt of the horseshit from the players, but you know shit is going to go down when even he shows signs of frustration. Honestly, if I was him, I'd consider quitting.

Think of it this way: The person posting knows its a bullshit response, but can't do anything about it. Any resistance on their part will lose them their part, IE job.

I'd put my money on Tanaka and the people in the upper levels of decision making being complete bastards about dissent. I have no direct proof in the form of a direct quote, but look at their interview policies after the Bercus interview. "You cannot ask us these questions and you must submit your questions that you will ask 2+ weeks in advance". Look at FFXIV for a better example - they ignore anything they do not agree with, to the point of releasing a half cooked disaster.

I would go so far to say they have George Lucas syndrome - they may very well have surrounded themselves with yesmen and refuse to pay attention to any external criticism.

Edit: I think they get paid, they're just GM's that have been taken off game duty.

Were Camate and Rukirri ever actually GMs? I thought they were a different team. I see a lot of people using moderation and community teams interchangeably but I honestly have no idea how that's organized internally.

I think some poster here mentioned a while back that they knew Ruki in-game, so I figured she probably didn't have GM rights since most GMs who play just give themselves 1 billion gil and such (or so I've heard).

I was never actually arguing to get her to admit she was wrong. I was just happy to have an excuse to harp on the subject because I see a lot of people complaining about the stage 2 trials and while I do think they are insane I'm afraid of what will happen if SE decides to change something. We will either get easier stage 2s and harder stage 1s or some of the buffs will be removed from stage 1 and put on stage 2 or at the very least they will take another 3 months to balance and release the trials.

Same shit happoned to me when I got perma banned. I got the 3 week or whatever ban then before it was even lifted I got a message saying I had been permaed for something I posted a month earlier.

edit BTW the trend I've noticed is that the long 3 week ban is just a hush move while they dig up the dirt for a perma.
