    I thought about doing that with my 470 but honestly haven't had any real problems with the stock cooling. Certainly not enough to buy a $75 part for it.

    I'd do it for 480s in SLI though for sure.

    I don't know how much good it would do but outside of undervolting a laptop stand with a cooling pad might be something to consider too, or just the pad.

    Pads are useless unless you put out for the top of the line ones. But at that point it's just cheaper to get a damn tower. Undervolting usually does the trick unless you get a laptop that doesn't allow it. (my cousin's Mac would shut down when I tried) Another bonus is a slightly longer battery life. I get an extra 45 minutes and I haven't finished the full settings yet.
