True, but when I see Daring be an archeologist professor, my attention is kinda meh.

Funny thing is, I was talking to a friend about Daring awhile back. Mostly if I had the knowledge to make a retro point and click adventure like DotT, I'd love to have Daring be the main character and have allusions to different adventure based media other than Indiana.

Yeah, I guess I don't like when canon is thrown out the window and that's why I generally don't enjoy fanfiction XD
I like reading well-written fics, sometimes, but as soon as something is inserted that doesn't make sense with what I know about the canon I can't help but roll my eyes and sigh.

Character relations are generally exempt from the canon rule but when people try to change or invent stuff about the mechanics of the world it makes me twitchy >_> A perfect example is the hoof-stitching explanation in this chapter of Green. Electric currents? Really? This is not something that the show ever felt needed to be explained, why insert an explanation?

I guess I'm just one of those people who is too picky for fanfiction XD

Yeah, that was obviously just fluff and inserted headcanon. Sometimes, it's better to take it with a grain of salt. If you want something more canon, try this:

Princess Celestia tires of constantly being surrounded by decorum, deference, and formality, and decides to take a day off from being Princess. But visiting Ponyville incognito is harder than she expects. Will she be able to fit in and make friends without blowing her cover?

Not sure if this is just a rumor, but I've been hearing that Double Rainboom is going to animate this story. If they do, this needs to be Celestia's voice actress. I really thought it was Nicole Oliver. (She does a really good Luna and Twilight too)

So this kid in my Political Science class, when we're introducing ourselves one-by-one, holds up his "bag" when it gets to him and there is like 4 MLP's on the side. Some drawn, painted, or a patch sewed on, and announced how he was a bronie and into MLP.

Just thought I'd share, it was my first IRL pony experience. I was surprised how confident and outgoing he was about it. He is easily the worst person in the course for 30 other reasons and we've mostly forgotten about the pony thing.

That is kind of amazing, no lie. Vocal fan songs are reaaally hit or miss for me (mostly miss), but this song was quite good. Gonna go look for more XD

As for episode 7, I liked it.

I don't know why everyone is so obsessed with seeing her being fed 'humble pie', I mean sure RD is boastful and thinks she's awesome but that's her character quirk and what makes her special.
If you took away Dash's attitude and pride in herself she would be pretty bland. Every pony has her own annoying fault, like Rarity's over the top dramaticness and Twilight's OCD. I admit that I don't like Pinkie much because of her quirk, but I can see why people do like her and I wouldn't want her to be changed.

Rather than bringing Dash's pride in herself down a notch, I like when she's forced into choosing between that and things that are more important, which was definitely a theme of ep 7. I know we've also had episodes that served to show Dash she shouldn't be so boastful all the time, but I really prefer her acknowledgement that there are more important things than how awesome she is to simply acknowledging that she is too prideful or not as awesome as she thinks.

If that makes sense.

I dunno, I'm paranoid, overly critical of myself and the opposite of a risk-taker so maybe RD exemplifies all the things I wish I could be - courageous, full of pride in myself and not afraid to take risks and live fast sometimes.

As for the rest of the episode, Pinkie was kind of annoying and I wondered what the point was of taking focus away from the main event of the plot to show what Pinkie was doing. But of course, it became clear at the end. I understood why Dash wanted to be lead pony, even though it's a small discrepancy - no one wants to be second best when they are chasing their one and only most important dream. Everyone wants to be special.
I am kind of disappointed in how shallow Lightning Dust turned out to be, simply a plot device for RD's own triumph, but it might be interesting to see her again as a more developed character.

At least the Wonderbolts are showing up again. Of the Mane 6, I think RD is the only one who has a well-defined, achievable goal or dream. It would be nice to see her join the Wonderbolts before the series ends.
