In all honesty, this sounds 100% better than what we got. Wonder why they changed it.

Yea that alternative ending nicely ties up all the lose ends in the episode, instead of how the original ending which leaves you to think what just happened it just sort of stopped.

I still kinda wish they fleshed it out a bit more. I just didn't feel like there was much "conflict" so to speak. Mostly because until Lightning nearly killed Twilight and co. RD really didn't seem all that bothered by how reckless she was.

Weird, still no sign of Rarity-centered episode. Everyone else in the main cast got at least one (plus one for Scotaloo).
Assuming episodes 12 and 13 are two-parters for the season finale there is only one left.
Granted she has the highest number of spotlight episodes in the first two seasons, so not getting one in season 3 it might be intentional.

How many times has Spike been saved so far? Why didn't anyone else before Applejack get his "services"?
Spike and Applejack definitely need some extra screen time, but the explaination for that could have been a bit less lazy.

It's been apparent that this season is all about fan service. Aside from another run-in with the Diamond Dogs or hooking her up with Fancy Pants I can't think of anything they could really do with her. Plus, she did get a ton of screen, like Apple Bloom tier screen time. Originally Posted by Esby

AJ no screentime? Please, the Apple family have a ton of episodes and AJ is in every one of them. I feel like we see Twilight the least nowadays honestly, but Fluttershy and Dash have been scarce at times too. Meanwhile, the CMC, Pinkie, the Apple family and Rarity have been shoved in our faces nonstop. I don't mind Rarity so much but because of the CMC connection to the Apples, both of those are getting pretty old at this point.
Moar Twilight and Fluttershy please, and I wouldn't complain about more Dash either although I know a lot of others would
Quit wasting time on Spike, srs =/ He was a sidekick character in Gen1 and I'm okay with him being a sidekick char here too, though I guess he did get at least one Gen1 episode focused on him.

Now that I think about it, doesn't this 2nd Spike episode kinda feel like a rehash of the Pinkie episode last season where she foalsits?

Today's ep is already up:
Overall, not a bad ep even though it was cliche. Only thing I really didn't like was how clumsy they made Spike. Seemed totally out character for him. That and the final Timberwolf scene was just downright horrible.

I'd say this was the worst episode so far, even worse than MMDW.
The fact that Spike, who until now was quite good at domestic chores and had a decent dose of common sense, turned into a worse klutz than Derpy with Twilight's OCD mixed in for no reason whatsoever means that they're really running out of ideas.
And let's not even get started on how every single character lost about 80 IQ points in this episode.

I'll admit though, Rarity's doomed line made me laugh.

Another thing that really bugs me is how Spike was like "AJ saved me so I'm dumping you Twilight, kthxbye" when it was estabilished in "Owl's well that ends well" and "The crystal empire" that he was downright terrified at the idea of Twilight abandoning him. Those episodes gave us the idea of a strong brother/sister-like bond between them, which was thrown out of the window in this one, since he had no qualms about leaving Twilight.
Given that this series is known for having relatively strong sense of continuity, something like that is just wrong.
Edit: Well, I just realized that Dave Polsky and Merriwether Williams wrote the episode, which means it's the standard scrappy episode and MLP isn't quite dead yet.
