So the aesop for this episode was "When everything else fails, guilt trip your abusive boyfriend"?

Joking aisde, it was surprisingly decent.
Discord was hilarious as always, Angel being abused like the little bitch deserved was long overdue, Fluttershy had her best characterization yet and after watching it again I can say the ending wasn't as rushed as it seemed the first time.

There were many subtle hints that Discord was just lonely rather than evil throughout the episode, from the Discord-shaped lamp to his clones giving him 10 scores during the ice skating scene.

Quite possibly the best episode of season 3 yet.

Yeah, definitely my favorite episode this season. This really could've benefited from being a 2-parter, but with the blatant amount of fanservice taking priority over character development this season, you got to take what you can get. The biggest surprise was Discord actually being "reformed." I was more than expecting him to be turned back into stone and swept under the rug of continuity again. Hope this leads to more back story and Q Discord being a recurring trickster that pops in every once in a while to give Picard Twilight a hard time. Celestia's reaction at the end was priceless... at least until I re-watched the episode and noticed the others making the same forced grin. I know I stress that I'm not a shipper, but I can't help but think that there was something that went on between Celestia and Discord. Might need to lay off the Dislestia fanfics for a while.

On another note, my curiosity got the best of me and I started to read On a Cross and Arrow. Not half bad to be honest.

Haven't found anyone that didn't like it. On a Cross and Arrow is highly recommended within the fandom. How'd you like the ending?

As much as I kind of knew the story was going for a bittersweet route, it still didn't soften the blow. But Rainbow Dash and Rainbow Blitz's confessions really poured salt on the open wound. Can't wait for On a Whisper of Wind to be finished. Conner has been kind of busy lately.

I was quite surprised about Dash/Blitz since I assumed the shipping would be AJ/Rainbow, not them crushing on each other at the end. But yeah, I hope they expand soon. The Rarity/Elusive romance was hilarious as hell. Celestia/Solaris knowing each other also surprised me. Wonder if they'll reveal that secret to Twilight/Dusk

I had a feeling this episode was gonna be a winner (look at the poll, natch!) on BG.

Was quite happy, especially with bits like Fluttershy managing to guilt trip EVERYONE repeatedly, right to the end. Nice doesn't mean gullible, even if the rest of the Mane 6 (and Celestia, FFS) seem to think so.

Plenty of little fun touches, like Discord terrorizing Angel, the angry beavers from Hell, and the entire Beauty and the Beast dinner party.

Are 13$ really that much to you? Dunno how prices are in the US, but here in europe you pay up to 13€ (~17$) for ONE (3D) cinema ticket, DVDs and BDs range from 15-20€ most of the time, and even streaming of halfway new movies can cost 4€+... So at least for me, 13$ is a legit price for a DRM-free 90min movie that doesn't have a huge production studio behind it.

Just wanted to say the Discord ep was fantastic.

I liked the thing about FS being nice to him as a means to an end and the other ponies just not getting it and thinking she was dumb, and her acknowledging this fact. Kind of sophisticated for what we've seen so far in S3. Discord himself obviously had a ton of fun moments. I hope we see him more often (but not TOO much, he could get played out pretty fast).

Yeah, stuff like this is putting nails into the coffin that Twilight's going to stay "normal unicorn" for much longer. Which is sorta disappointing, honestly- other than canonically showing us where alicorns come from. Of course, it'd also mean being separated from her friends, because hey- alicorns do NOT end up living a life as a librarian in a little town called Ponyville.

Boo hiss to that, cause it'd feel like Hasbro's ripping apart the Mane 6 in favor of cheap merchandising.
