Hmm, interesting. I always thought it was damn near impossible to make a fic with physical fighting/etc. in it.

I think Granny Smith is only ~100 years old. Compared to cities like Canterlot, Cloudsdale and Manehattin, Ponyville looks like it's the least technologically advanced and newest.
Fallout: Equestria is the only hardcore action series that really comes to mind. Never really read it since I'm not much of a Fallout fan. But if it's your thing you won't have trouble finding additions to that universe, even without all the spin-offs the main series rivals War and Peace in length. I even saw what looked like a hardback release too. Aside from that, there's an abundance of crossovers that merge in universes like Borderlands, Street Fighter, Team Fortress, and even G Gundam. I did read most of Crisis: Equestria which could fall into the action category. If you liked the parallel universe appeal of On a Cross and Arrow, you might like it.
Just like what Kyreth said, most of the serious action fics tend to go all out and dabble into grimdark/sex territory almost for the sake of doing it or play off the bad future dynamic which Future Twilight brings to the table. Everything outside that falls into the adventure genre like Anthropology, Discordant, Pony Psychology Series/Secrets and Lies, Escapism, (Sequel to Petriculture) Moonstone Cup, On a Cross and Arrow, and most Doctor Whooves spin-offs. Not surprised since MLP lends better to adventure/fantasy more than action. But it could be done.
Did you get a chance to read A Slice of Life yet?
I see. Mostly with weapons it sounds like.
And no. I'm going to tonight. Was going to yesterday but my eye bothered me and I was finishing up some work.
Really depends on the story. There's quite a few steampunk stories around adding to the fantasy setting too.
Just came across this game from another forum. If you're familiar to FF1, you'll feel right at home. Download and steam links are in the video description:
Well I was expecting something kinda fantasy based. Think LOTRish fight wise.
Also nearly done with the first chapter. Overall pretty good. Loved how the head chef was Gordon Ramsay.
This raises a question that's been on my mind though. What's with the "pink hair Celestia" thing that people do?
If I'm not mistaken...
In the first episode's opening lore regarding how Nightmare Moon came to be, the "elder sister" has pink hair. Then consider that when Nightmare Moon is transformed back into Luna in episode 2, she has a static hair color (not the flowing ethereal hair like her season 2/3 appearance and Celestia's hair). People imagine that pink hair is how Celestia looks without her ethereal mane.
Ohhhh, now I see what you're getting at. I'm sure there's some good LotR fics like that out there. FiMFiction still doesn't have a Star Swirl the Bearded tag, but I'll ask around.
I knew you were going to get a kick out of the story. There's a lot of stuff in there that pre-dates some of the show's canon, like the writers borrowed ideas from the story. Probably just a coincidence in the end, but still funny in hindsight. Don't ask about the little dream sequences before each chapter. That's the only thing I couldn't figure out. Feels too random to be a checkov's gun, so I started skipping them.
^All these are correct. But in the story's context, I think the author had headcanoned that Celestia and Luna reverted back to their "natural" mane colors when they slept. Also, Molsetia from JJ's tumblr has a pink mane for some inexplicable reason. Might have something to do with the Trollestia tumblr, but I stopped reading it a long ass time ago.
I'll have to look into that later. I thought Faust was against the whole princess/little girl stereotypical BS.

Pssh. I'm nothing special for fanfictioning, and I have a chapter full of Rainbow Dash burning things to death with her bare hooves, Applejack smashing demons like rotten melons, and Pinkie Pie executing opponents with a water-squirting carnation.
Spoiler: show
Action definitely doable, though gawd I hate writing stuff that has to cover so much at the same time.
I'll take a look at those some Kyreth.
Probably not very interesting for you guys, but very nice for us: season 1 will be released on BD in Germany at the end of March: http://www.amazon.de/My-Little-Pony-...1293729&sr=1-3
And as they stated on the second "solo" DVD release, "english audio now included too because of popular demand". Let me guess who was bugging them about it... xD
I am tempted to get that blu ray since its region 0, but I am guessing it would be crazy expensive to import. It kind of sucks for us US people because the company that has the video rights, Shout Factory, to MLP:FiM refuses to release a blu ray season set because they think it won't sell. They did actually release that DVD season set of season 1 on amazon only after a bunch of people kept asking for it on their forums but uh the video quality is so bad on DVD and they just look bad on HDTVs. Still holding out for a blu ray though, since the show is natively shown in 1080p.

Just so we can say it's over.
Not sure how this keeps happening but I made the front page again:
This Kid Ain't No Chicken - by Carpetbagger
http://www.fimfiction-static.net/ima...jpg?1360828277
"Gather round, I got a bit of a story to tell. It don't got much to do with princesses, dragons and the like- not even much of a happily ever after. but things worked themselves out all the same."
"This is the tale of a little filly, no older than the ones you see scurrying about town- futures as bright as their smiles."
"The Kid ain't have it so lucky."
"Her classmates, even some of her fiends would poke fun at her. Some even called her a chicken.
Children can be cruel like that.
One day, Kid got some news, started believing all that hogwash. Broke her little heart something fierce. But between you and me, Kid had more guts than any chicken I seen."
"I should know, because I was there..."
(Narrated in the voice of Ruck from Bastion.)
US getting quality plushies? There is a god.
