I don't know, I started watching EG today expecting it to be utter crap. And the setting is, for the most part - typical Disney high school bullshit. But oh man watching Twilight try to be human is hilarious. Might be worth watching just for that. Terrible fucking villian though, absolutely godawful. But I suppose it doesn't matter to kids, I'm pretty sure I'd love the movie if I was a kid. Still only halfway through the movie and I'm sure it doesn't get better...

I really didn't like the Twilight acting human things mostly since they went too overboard with it. But it wasn't as bad as the scene where Twilight was framed. Did anyone think that shit through during that scene's development?

I couldn't stomach it. The unfortunate implications with Flash Sentry looking so similar to Shining Armor had me raise an eyebrow, but the overall story, villain and songs left a bad taste in my mouth. It's like they just made a human version of FiM and took out what made FiM special. Probably would've worked better in a fantasy setting.

Rainbowfying the ponies is nothing different than they used to do in the 80s when they sold MLP by giving the ponies growing hair or twinkling eyes or whatever, it's just marketing for the new toys they're going to come out with... we know how this works by now lol (and yes, some of those changes/"upgrades" made it over into the show). I think MLP fans nowadays tend to forget the show exists to sell toys and not the other way around XD they will cheapen the show any way they want to for the sake of toys because the bottom line isn't having a good show, it's selling a bunch of plastic to screaming children.

Whats funny is in the 80s when i was a kid I did see a bunch of 80s MLP because when you are that young you just watch whatever cartoon comes on. I remember they had human character a boy and a girl and the girl had some locket with a like living rainbow that was used to kill the bad guys so many times to the point it was like they going to use the rainbow again.

Haha yeah, Megan the human with occassional appearances by her brother Danny and little sister Molly. Interesting how they even attempted appeal to boys with Danny and Spike. And of course, the Rainbow of Light contained in the locket - the element of harmony of its day XD I wouldn't say it was overused though. They hardly used it for everything... but anytime something needed restoring after being transfigured, which happened a lot...rainbow powaahhhh.

80s MLP was honestly so interesting though. The plots were imaginative, the songs were pretty good and the characters were often interesting, all with unique personalities (even if they were a bit one-dimensional, but current MLP isn't that far off that either... you know what to expect from these characters and how they'll react to things).

I'm a very big advocate for old MLP XD

Most cartoons usually end at 65 episodes with a two and a half season format, whether the main plot is resolved or not. Gargoyles was a popular exception to this since the first "season" was basically a movie long pilot and it was up in the air if Disney going to continue producing it.

Some shows go on longer after that syndication benchmark but it's very uncommon and involves an extended hiatus before going back into production like Galaxy Rangers, Reboot, and X-Men to name a few. With MLP's popularity, this could be a long running series on the level of One Piece. Let's just hope they can keep it fresh.
