While it's nice Derpy is "saved", still a load of shit they pretty much had to "correct" her during the scene in question.

Hasbro is retarded, and not in the amusing Derpy way. They already pass over tons of potential monetary gain by giving the Brony community a miss entirely and refusing to merchandise towards anyone who isn't a 10 year old girl.

Now, with backpedaling on Derpy, I think they're actually sending the opposite message of the show as a whole: "accept people as they are, everyone has merit". By not accepting Derpy as a clumsy, cross-eyed airhead with a funny name, they're essentially saying "we couldn't accept Derpy like this and neither could the fans of the show, who have clearly learned nothing despite watching it all the time, so it had to be changed."

I think in this case the initial gesture of featuring Derpy for all of a couple minutes was enough. The animation, voice, etc teams wanted to go that extra mile and that's a nice feeling. That Hasbro backed out on it later is a bit of a sting but that's life (and PR control).

And AJ is best pony.

I like how everyone on Yamino's DA page is white knighting for her by telling people to stop getting mad over a children's cartoon when she herself made similar posts about Derpy in the first place.

I never looked at their DA, but truth is there's a lot of sh*theads to blame because they felt the need to speak for others just because they got offended.

What I don't get is how Derpy was shown with her derp look in obvious scenes (Christmas/Halloween episodes of S2 being a prime example) and nobody complained. But once they gave Derpy actual recongition and a speaking role in the show then people suddenly started to take notice/offense.

Derpy's new voice was jarring at first, but I prefer it now. She did sound retarded (literally) before, and it didn't help that Tabitha thought she was a boy. Of course I don't care the other censorships. My bet is that they were just told to "tone it down" for that episode 'cause her eyes aren't completely corrected and there's that one animator saying it's not going to stop.
