As much as I like the CMC, (now) I'm pumped for Scootaloo's episode. I hope she finally learns to fly.
I read a really good fanfic a while back where the CMC are trying yet another dangerous stunt (I think it was skydiving) to get their cutie marks. Sweetie Belle's parachute doesn't work and Scootaloo saves her at the last minute and learns to fly in the process.

Honestly I don't think the CMC are likable as characters at all. Well, Applebloom is okay when she's just with her family, but put her with her friends and they become exactly what they are - annoying kids. \

As long as the season is balanced well with the main ponies though (and FS gets a fucking song or two) I won't complain...too much.

CMC are getting more tolerable, but it's kind of bad the only episode the fanbase generally accepted was Hearts and Hooves day.

It depends on what the CMC episode is about. They've slowly grown on me but seeing them failing at getting their cutie marks is getting old. They probably won't get them until the movie though.
Rainbow Dash and Applejack need songs desperately. Better yet, I'm still hoping for a musical episode where everyone breaks out in song, Celestia and Luna included. I could see Luna singing some gothic metal and Nicole Oliver sounds like she has a good singing voice.

Don't get me wrong, I <3 Fluttershy, but she's getting a bit overexposed. I'd like to see RD get a song mainly because she just hasn't had one yet. Also, doesn't need to be an episode or anything but I want a good version of the CMC theme.

Maybe it's just me, but the only pony I've seen getting exposed left and right lately is Dash. Mostly from a fanbase perspective though.

RD had a lot of attention in episodes, though she didn't have a song. Maybe her VA doesn't really like to sing? Even in the Pet song most of the lines were spoken. Then again it might be because RD's "image" kind of excludes singing. She's not the kind of character to sing a sappy/angsty or bouncy song, which doesn't leave a whole lot of room for having a song all her own.

I'm also hoping for a musical episode - I would really love one.

You might be onto something. Since Ashleigh voices AJ and RD, it would explain why neither of them sing. As far as Dash's 'image' I could see her doing some kind of rock ballad similar to her solo in At the Gala. Not sure about AJ, country is too obvious, but would be pretty funny if it parodied a popular singer.
Still can't believe that damn pet song was nominated for an Emmy over Smile, Smile, Smile. That's by far Pinkie's best song and a masterpiece.

I thought it was well known, but Ashleigh Ball does vocals for Hey Ocean and has mentioned her manager wants her to give it up, but she enjoys doing it.

That's what I think. When AJ does get some singing bits (Winter Wrap Up/At the Gala) you can really see a noticeable difference with her voice. Rainbow Dash on the other hand, not so much.
