Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks is having a knee evaluated today after suffering an injury in yesterday's 28-14 loss to the Redskins. Coach Tom Coughlin did not know the severity of the injury or if Nicks will miss any time.

"We know that he has some type of injury there," Coughlin said. "Don't know what it is or to what extent."

The news might not be bad, though. Seen outside of the team facility, Nicks gave a thumb's up. The injury is a "bone bruise at worst," according to someone informed of the injury who requested anonymity because no announcement has been made.

Nicks apparently banged up his knee and his wrist last night. Nicks underwent X-rays after last night's game. Coughlin said Nicks has experienced swelling today.

An injury would be devastating for the Giants, who have already lost four players to season-ending knee injuries. Nicks is the Giants' top wide receiver. He had seven catches for 122 yards yesterday.

Nicks has not played a full season in his first two years in the NFL. He emphasized that his goal was to finish this season healthy.

Coughlin did not have any further information on DE Justin Tuck (neck), DE Osi Umenyiora (knee) or TE Travis Beckum. They still need to be cleared by the medical staff.

Yes, I think the shouldn't, and the only way to deter them from doing it is to fine and suspend them. I wouldn't put these on the same level as helmet to helmet hits, but player safety trumps winning any day. You can block without lunging at players knees.

Technically I did watch the game. I'm from NE Oklahoma so interest in both Chiefs and Rams games, was flipping between the two. (Plus interested in following Cassel since he's an ex-Patriot)
