I was recently interviewed at a hospital position last week and they offered me the position afterwards. They sent a welcome packet and all the shambles to fill out before i go on my physical/fingerprinting this 19th of September. They're doing a background check on me in the meantime based on the info i provided on their application and my resume.
My concern is this, I recently graduated from college in may with a bachelors in science, however I had to take a class that I had been missing pending the degree completion. Funny thing is, they still allowed me to attend the graduation ceremony back in may. That said, I took the missing course this past June and was finished with that by the end of that month. Now when I made my resume, i had put down a bachelors in my education field and 6/2011 as the degree completion because that is when I completed all my coursework technically. So that is what this hospital has on my resume at the moment.
The problem: I contacted my school few days ago and asked them if I could come pick up my diploma, they said no and that I had to wait until September 30th for them to validate the diploma since I took a summer class and they are closed in summer, they only validate diplomas in may/september/december of each year.
So technically I am a September grad now, the job I've got hired at is probably going to do a education background check and will see that my bachelors is still listed as incomplete, how should I approach to fix this issue, should i contact the recruiter or HR and just let them know they are validating my diploma on the coming 30th and that the date I had put down on the application was the time i completed my coursework?
My start date with the place is October 14th. Would they find that fishy and rescind the offer due to misinformation on the resume/application? Kind of worried how this all fell into place. Thanks.
