September 12, 2011 - ten years of islamophobia.

Watched the plane hit the 2nd tower on TV and then both towers collapsing. Pulled out of a school by my Aunt and come to her house to find my mother nonstop sobbing. A very close family friend working in the South Tower was unaccounted for. Later we found out he did not get out in time.

I don't care about the documentaries they air. I do find MSNBC airing 'As it Happened' to be completely awful. As if I really want to witness the moment when someone close to me died all over again...

60 Minutes on Sunday had two really interesting pieces on 9/11. The first one was about the FBI's top interrogator of terrorism suspects in the months following the attack. Here's the best video I could find on YouTube but the whole piece was about 20 minutes:



The second piece was an oral history of the first responders to the WTC site, as recorded by a Stony Brook University physician who is treating many of them for respiratory and mental health problems. Much of the work in his clinic is done by a volunteer staff, and the video interviews are all personally done. Some pretty heart-wrenching stuff.
