Internet 'sploded

Hey so last when I turned my desktop on it suddenly wouldn't connect to the Internet. The wifi from the router is working as well as other devices connected to it.

I've tried:
Changing the port the Ethernet cable is plugged into.
Doing a system restore to a date I know the Internet worked.
Restarting the modem/router and my pc.

I'm thinking maybe the Ethernet chipset on my motherboard went out, if that's possible, and if that's the case will being a Ethernet modem like a killer 2100 resolve it?

Sorry I know it's hard to resolve shit like this without seeing it first hand

What do you get from ipconfig? Can you connect to your network?

If the ethernet chip is dead, then yes buying a new one would of course fix the problem.

Try downloading a linux live CD and boot off it, to see if it connects (would eliminate any Windows related problems and would tell you if it's a hardware problem)
