Thems is fighting wordsObviously, not as serious as FFXI as there's no PVP, but it's bad nonetheless. Not going into a tirade if people use it or anything, but if people get in trouble for it, I wouldn't give a shit.

Well it's always been like that, even back before the level cap. I'd say the difference between now and then is the quality of XMLs floating around compared to back then more than anything. A lot of the first NIN and WAR XMLs I took basically on had sets for engaged, idle and WS and didn't have any rules to take into consider for bergressor at the time, which is when I found myself wanting to add stuff to it thus I chose to learn how to write them.
Jumping from windower scripts to SpellCast is still fairly significant for someone who doesn't know what they're doing, much more so than I think people are giving it credit for. Something as simple as forgetting an end tag is silly to someone who's familiar with it, but for someone who's just picked it up after being told this is the greatest way to macro now has no gear because they forgot to close a statement. They didn't just make a line show up in party by accident, they literally have nothing because they broke the XML and have no idea how to fix it.
I never made a comparison to equal difference between the three. But no, if you only use spellcast for more macro lines then that still is "gimping yourself". You aren't going to be at your best.
And a lot of people just don't give a shit at this point.
tbh though too, up until recently I think many didn't want to make the leap to windower/sc macros because of inventory space. I know that's why I never bothered with basic windower macros in the past simply because there would have been no where to put the gear in the first place (pre toau/sack). Especially as rdm. I had enough sets as is with the 6 slots that I was packed. Now, obviously, it's duoable which is why I was willing to do so, but I think out of habit a lot might not still use it because of that.
Not saying that makes it ok, just giving reasons why most probably don't bother.
As for SC, to use it properly is daunting. I still have some lines that don't do jack shit 'cause I spent forever trying to find out how to make them work and couldn't so just gave up. Not everyone is used to coding like that, so what may seem "simple" to others can be complicated to n00bs like me. And I hate to play the "just a game card" but really, for some of us it just isn't even close to being worth the effort. Not saying we aren't gimping, but just don't be surprised that some of the more "want to be great at the game" people don't even bother with it.
I will admit that spellcast does lead to having retardedly-situational gear and having way more gear than without spellcast... =/
GOING BACK TO ORIGINAL REASON WHY THIS THREAD WAS CREATED:
I installed clipper from the shady pastebin without knowing better. Was trapped behind a wall and LS needed me. Rather than wasting 20 minutes I thought i'd take the 2 minutes to download clipper. After booting up my computer yesterday It cleared my POL login info as if it was a fresh install. Needless to say I am not going to type my info in, but I do believe it is laced with a virus trying to steal your login.
http://bit.ly/puCyM1
that's what showed up.
TBH though, I Know it reset my login info, so i won't type it in again until i format..... that's all i can do. Even if it doesn't show up... I don't trust it.
Dang man, not good
Dude named Alex Fitz going around saying that I'm a fake and that I'm just trying to hand out viruses >.>
There are people on this forum that I have WORKED with to make sure clipper is working well for them. Just be aware. Im just worried about being
called a fake after all the hard work. It wouldn't be fair.
EDIT: oh crap i totally forgot that this was an old thread. hm. not used to these kind of things, >.> *cough* BUMPITH?
Hey xerodok, it's me, I have not authorized anyone to post it online and i have removed it from all public websites. So don't trust those sources.
I can't remember if you xerodok came to me a long time ago to report a fake on pastebin. Someone did and I explained what was happening. THen this thread was created.
There isn't a good reason to leave this thread open, especially since current discussion about Clipper, Cupper, etc., can be followed by clicking this link.
If anyone wants to post any information in relation to Clipper and its myriad siblings, that would be the place.
