Haha... I don't have any, but i'll ask around. I'd be really suprised if anybody's got one though. It was so bad that we just all felt horrible for the guy, but at same time didn't want to be around him because he was gross to look at, and I really doubt he was posing for many pictures. I always suspected there was something else going on because pot is considered so harmless, but whenever somebody asked him wtf happened to his face, he said he quit smoking.

In one sentence you basically just said "I know absolutely nothing about pot or if it's addictive, but it absolutely is."

Pot had absolutely nothing to do with that kid.

Sorry, I guess that's what I did say. In reality, I feel that it is addictive, having seen it in other people's lives, but I didn't feeling like getting into an argument about it, so I prefaced my statement in that way to avoid the trolls. I guess sometimes you try to avoid something and end up walking right into it. Now that the cat's out of the bag, I can ask this... have you guys seriously not figured out that it's physically addictive yet?

Also, I've been doing some thinking... instead of arguing about it pointlessly, this is a good opportunity for us to actually observe what happens when somebody quits smoking pot cold turkey after a couple of years of regular use. We should ask the OP to update us on how his mood, behavior, sleep cycle, physical appearance, appetite, etc. change after he quits... in effect allow this thread to actually become his live journal in an effort to reverse the argumentative inevitability of the path we're on here... because the debate is one that has been pretty beaten to death, and I personally am not interested in regurgitating it.

You know... let him livejournal it up for great justice.

You feel that it is physically addictive? Have you ever smoked it heavily for long periods of time and then quit? Because I have, and there is absolutely no physical withdrawal. And there is scientific evidence for my side of the argument. Anything I've ever seen trying to slander it as physically addictive has been the general anti-pot bullshit put out by the people that want to keep it illegal because their paycheck depends on it. I'm not gonna change your mind, but you're delusional if you think it's actually physically addictive. Psychological addiction is a whole other story, however. I've personally never became depressed or felt like I needed it after just quitting cold turkey after months of daily heavy smoking. But I know people that felt like they needed it. But that would be a case-to-case basis because everyone is different.

Yes, I have smoked heavily and then quit. The problem was, I quit because I came down with the flu though, so it would be irresponsible of me to say that I felt like shit because of withdrawal... not to mention it was years ago. More relevant to what we're talking about, I know people in my life that are dependent on weed to function in their lives, however. I've even started threads about it here, looking for help, within the past couple of months. I'm no stranger to it.

Heed what advice? The only things I've seen the known (and some assumed) pot smokers here post is that he should just man the fuck up because pot isn't physically addictive. Because it's not.

how about instead of coming to the unbelievably dumb conclusion that nobody has ever tested this before and we're on the brink of some great discovery...

you actually go out and look at the science behind what we're saying?

Provide links to the science, please. I'd love to see what kind of hackjob articles you can dig up out of the dregs of European health magazines that indicate Marijuana as not addictive. Maybe you could throw in some clever wordplays, like substituting "habit forming" for addiction, or maybe even give the ol' emotional dependency =/= addiction argument a try.

I remember reading something from the American Addiction Society of Medicine back when I was doing some research paper. They did mention it was addictive with severe withdrawal symptoms among other crap. Too lazy to google ;/

I think it's less of a chemical addiction and more of an emotional one when it comes to pot. You get used to the emotional state it puts you in and after a while you almost depend on pot to calm you down.

It's not a big deal... I'm sure that Plow just thinks that quitting smoking is easy because he's done it a thousand times.

i'm not going to bother providing links, you can look up what physical and psychological mean. someone else already addressed the whole 'can't depend on pot to put you to sleep or make you hungry, so try being healthy', so thats not needed either.

I kinda feel like you just faceplanted on your keyboard and some words fell out of your head, nearly forming a sentence.

Provide links, please. Going twice. Copy/Paste should be easy.

How bout you do the same?

and before you ask why I'm not, I'll give the honest reason that I'm too lazy to look shit up right now and idgaf that you believe something with no evidence to back it up

Edit: nvmd... I give up. You guys are fucking retarded, and i'm actually kind of mad about it for some reason. You call me out, call me dumb, say that i'm not looking at the science of all things, and then claim laziness when you actually take the time to search for something to support what you're saying and realize it doesn't exist? What a bunch of fucking idiots you all are. For serious, I kind of want to light you all on fire and rid the world of your stupidity, on the off chance that somebody might listen to something that you say and not realize how much it sucks.

Well, I took the time to look up what I could and I'll admit there is very little in terms of a definitive answer. As with all drugs, It's going to be different for every single person. Different chemical levels, reactions to stimulations, etc. I am twenty eight. I've been forced to quit for long periods many times and it has never been an issue for me personally. I may crave it, but only because being stoned is pretty awesome ehh? I have smoked cigs since I was thirteen and I still can't break that habit, so it's certainly not that I have uber willpower. I won't laugh at you or say you're wrong, but in my experiences with stopping, I find it hard to imagine anyone having a real issue with self control.
