It was just <bt> and it automatically fired if I recall (no purple cursor).

You could only have one mob claimed in XI right? (Sorry, been forever since I've played) If so then yeah it was /target <bt> to directly target them. I'd assume <stbt> would work to bring up the subtarget selection as a safety net.
I think each character could have a mob claimed...? Man, I can't believe I'm that rusty regarding XI.
Your party could only claim one. The problem with <bt> is it target the last mob the party targetted or some crap like that. I just remember tanking a mob and an add would get slept and my provoke <bt> macro would target the slept mob. It was a pretty crappy token.
Yea each person in a party can hold claim to 1 target. So a duo party of say pld and whm can hold claim on 2 mobs as long as the whm never touches the other mob, claim would stay on both mobs.
If someone that wasn't in your party, but in the alliance, touched the mob or had one claimed <bt> won't target it (as in its purple). It targets the closest mob claimed by your party though, or the last mob that had an action on it, not sure which lol.
Yeah, that all doesn't seem very practical for ffxiv.
They swapped the colors, look more what we're used to now.
