Net Neutrality Closer to Being Passed - FCC New Ruling - Inc. Bad Internet!

The White House's Office of Management and Budget has signed off on the Federal Communications Commission's Net neutrality rules, which means the rules could go into effect in two to three months' time--barring legal challenges.
The OMB signed off on Friday, Reuters reports. The next step will be publication in the Federal Register, which usually takes anywhere from one to three weeks. The rules would then kick in 60 days later.
Soon after the FCC's late December passing of the rules, Verizon Communications sued the agency in federal court, saying the FCC had overstepped its authority. But the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit dismissed the case, calling it premature, since the rules had not yet been added to the Federal Registry.
With that publication nigh, Verizon and other companies could mount additional legal challenges.
The FCC rules, which came about after years of debate, codify specific Net neutrality principles. The rules essentially let Internet service providers ration access to their networks while preventing them from discriminating against content that comes from competitors. The rules apply more stringently

I'm not sure what the new rules entail, so I can't make up my mind if this is good or bad. Can anyone explain?

Edit: Just saw the link you provided has a FAQ. I suppose this only applies to America. No wonder Verizon fights it; they just want to make more money.

"Our proposal would allow broadband providers to offer additional, differentiated online services, in addition to the Internet access and video services (such as Verizon's FIOS TV) offered today," the companies' policy proposal states. "This means that broadband providers can work with other players to develop new services...Our proposal also includes safeguards to ensure that such online services must be distinguishable from traditional broadband Internet access services and are not designed to circumvent the rules."
You can make your rules, but we want loopholes that allow us to charge premium prices for anything worth having and additional loopholes for throttling bandwidth when we want our customers to pay more for "Better Service".

This is why regulatory agencies exist. Companies can't police themselves because their greed and selfishness prevent them from seeing past all the zeros to the right.

I can't remember which net neutrality thread was the best net neutrality thread, so I pick this one. Not much of a story, but it's interesting to see the first (to my knowledge) legal challenge.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Public interest group Free Press filed a petition for review in the First Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston on Wednesday, challenging U.S. Internet rules set to go into effect November 20.

The rules, adopted last December by the Federal Communications Commission and published in the Federal Register last week, forbid broadband providers from blocking legal content but leave flexibility for providers to manage their networks.

Free Press said it will challenge provisions of the rules that leave more flexibility for wireless broadband.

"Our challenge will show that there is no evidence in the record to justify this arbitrary distinction between wired and wireless Internet access," said Matt Wood, policy director for Free Press.

These guys wanna take something that works and works well so they can chop it up and sell it individually to make more money off it... Instead of making money by actually innovating their technology so we're not paying 30/mo for shit speeds. They would rather keep us paying for shit speeds and then charge us on top of that for access to particular sites.

    Inb4
Google Package = (Access to search engine, Google+, Youtube, etc) for +10/mo.
SOE Package = (Access to Facebook, Twitter, etc) for +5/mo.

If the regulatory committees let this shit fly... God help us.
