    Shopping for memory

So i'm looking to get a new mobo and some new RAM for my system, Going for 8gb of ram in 2 sticks.

Here's the question though, is there really a noticeable diff between 1066, 1333 and the higher up.

I mean I can find 1333 or 1066 with 7/7/7/18 or lower speed, or I can buy 1866 with 9/9/9/28 for 30 bucks more.

Now I think I understand that you can OC 1066 to 1333 and 1333 to 1600 correct? I don't really have much plans to OC my system though as I don't have a great fan system set up for it yet.

I know the speed of the system hinges more on the GPU/CPU/RAM but doesn't really correlate to the speed of the RAM being that important.

Differences in memory are primarily evident in benchmarks. Real-world performance differences tend to be rather minimal. Look, for example, at the differences in the benchmarks and the game performance in this article. The memory benchmark shows a good margin of improvement. Game performance is essentially the same.

Far as clocking things faster...you can try. Higher rated modules are just that - rated to run at that faster speed.

Once you go over 1600 there's pretty much minimal difference in game performance.
