I always wonder what would have happened if you were standing in the middle of the roof when it fell.

In all honesty, it would take some serious balls to jump. I might not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but standing in that situation it would be hard to conclude that the buildings would actually collapse if it didn't happen immediately from the impact itself.
if i was working in a skyscrapper i would take a paracute to work with me everyday
So was the top of the WTC too high for helicopters?
Having suffered a minor burn, I'd happily dive off the tower OR inhale the smoke and just die ;/
I'd compose myself and do something witty while jumping. Maybe a Shoryuken from the window so people could aleast think of me as a baller as I landed face first (best chance for survival)
DIAF is a really bad way to go but I would rather risk (if possible) to jump/drop through a jet fuel fire to safety than give up all hope and fall ~100 floors. You also bring up a good point. I'd probably look for a security guard. Steal his gun and shoot myself if there's no hope.
i'd like to think i'd try some free running shit jumping down the middle of flights of stairs
Probably burn just for the chance to live.
Fucking weird you posted this, I just watched this last night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXnA9...eature=related its called "9/11 The Falling Man"... really one of the saddest things I've ever watched. It's a 1 hour documentary that talks about exactly this topic, and tries to identify that famous photo of the man falling upside down, which caused a lot of outrage.
I've seen a man burn in a car crash when I was 18 and it was horrifying. I don't think I'd manage to get myself through fire, or see other people around me burn. I'd probably stand outside the window till I had no other choice then jump.
I'd inhale the smoke.
Then realize that I'm actually Bruce Willis and jump off while in flames, just to end up being unscathed.

I keep a parachute under my desk just for times like that. Seriously though, 60 floors? You have no chance. I've heard of people surviving thousand foot falls by having tree branches break their fall and getting incredibly lucky, but this is NY. If you aren't hitting a lamp post or a car, you're falling all the way to the pavement.
Edit: Actually, realistically I'd waste so much time constructing a faux parachute that I'd end up being in the building when it collapsed still.
I found it semi depressing but mostly just lame and boring as fuck, kept waiting for some meaningful revelation that never happened.
also I'd take a table and try to prove mythbusters wrong
Yeah it would, but you do need a wooden chair for it to work. Also if there's a back rest you must make sure there's a hole in it. Otherwise you're gonna be taking most of the impact and not the chair.
