Fucking chocobo racing kicked my ass with a dash of butterfly frustration. Lightning wasn't hard to do in a sitting, I just had an unfortunate incident where I seriously got to 190+, suddenly sneezed, and couldn't hit pause or the dodge in time.

For some reason, I don't remember the chocobo race or the butterfly catching being frustrating whatsoever. The lightning-dodging though... that shit can go right to hell.

I was working at Gamestop at the time and did the lightning on a slow Sunday afternoon. It was stupid easy since I could pause/unpause between helping customers. God, I miss the days when Gamestop didn't suck...

I never really had a problem with the lightning or butterflies but god if the chocobo thing didnt make me want to destroy my Ps2...

Weirdly enough I did the chocobo ones after endless frustration but never managed the butterflies and lightning. Probably because I used Tidus more than kimahri and Lulu (lightning was for her right?)

This. exactly. Those were the only two things I never finished, and eventually stopped caring because I didn't use either that much.

I dodged enough lightning for Lulu's celestial weapon once in 5 files.
...Once.

I asked my buddy to count while I zoned out. Of course, unreliable friend being unreliable, he lost count, and without telling me, started over. I ended up dodging like 350 because of that asswipe. I haven't let him live it down to this day.

It's been so long... couldn't you always save and/or check how many you had consecutively dodged at any time without interrupting the streak?

Yep, have to do it all without visiting the inn. Pretty sure saving messes it up too, but never personally tried.

Racing pissed me off largely because I'd be like right at the finish line and suddenly blitzball out of nowhere, fuck your 0'00'00'.

Racing was pretty fine for me personally. Never did lightning because fuck it and I have no patience. Never did butterflies too because I never used Kimahri lol.

I'm getting this pretty much just for the Blitzball. I just watched all the best CSes a few months ago (it really is a good game for what its worth), but I can't wait to beat the shit out of the Luca Goers again.

I did the lightning dodging the first time I played the game. In every other playthrough, I've thought about it, but then decided I didn't want to lose any more sanity.. Other two weren't so bad, but the lightning dodging just killed me...

I've done every legendary weapon each play through, I honestly never have any problems with any. Butterflies are simple, racing is simple, lightning dodging just takes pausing every 50 or so and it's simple. The one thing I end up hating is blitzball, but not because its a bad mini-game, but because I'm the type of person that just spams something until I'm done. Doing ~80 blitzball games straight is fucking awful.

Edit: I did have issues with the chocobo racing my first play through, I do remember wanting to throw my controller out the window at one point. Ever since though I've had no problems.

I kinda liked the recruiting aspect of Blitzball. Tidus and Brother were an awesome combo! FFX-2 Blitzball was utter shit though. Makes me sad

Yeah I knew about this, and I did it on my last playthrough. The problem is I overall enjoy blitzball, I like doing it every now and then even after I get the overdrives and such, so I don't like to reset my team data.
