If they ever release an HD FF12, I just hope the voice overs won't sound like the compressed piece of shit that they sounded like in the original.

People had to grind in FF12?
I beat the game with my party at base levels 122333 game.

When does the game ever require you to grind to do anything, exactly? Stop being bad a video games, BG.

    From Wiki:
Ashe learns from Al-Cid that a war between Archadia and the Resistance group led by Marquis Ondore is about to take place in Rabanastre. The Sky Fortress Bahamut, an enormous, Nethicite-fueled airship armed with incredibly powerful weapons, had absorbed the incredible amount of Mist released by the destruction of the Sun-cryst and now hovers above Rabanastre.
Was the scene I was thinking about. I re-watched the scene [5:35;30 or so]. It wasnt as bad as I remembered it to be. I still stand by the point of being somewhat disappointed by missed potential that could have been.

Unfortunately I cant recall any specific example, and I'm wrecking my head trying to think of an article that reviewed it well where they mention specifically the points in the game that it is obvious the different stylistic and creative inputs from the directors were at odds with each other and resulted in poorer story development 'pace' and general cohesion.

Development for Final Fantasy XII was quite a bumpy road. It began in 2001 and took five years to be completed. Not to mention that the game's producer and director, Yasumi Matsuno, resign in the mid-way point.

The game has faults to be sure, Matsuno leaving in mid production left some obvious gaps.

I think everyone was disappointed that Bahamut amounted to 2 areas before going into the final boss battles.

the pacing in XII was pretty decent. it does speed up a little towards the end but this is typical of most rpgs as the story becomes more heated and comes to a conclusion.
of the PS era FFs, i think IX suffers from far worse pacing. its pace is basically like FFX at the start, and then FF7 at the end - the difference was that huge.

that cutscene never came off to me as being slipshod.. its a matter of different storytelling styles, for which XII employs more 3rd person narrative throughout the story. in fact, the introduction by Ondore and the various parts in between where he narrates whats happening does set the tone of the story.. and in XII the mystery of not knowing everything was half the fun. you can't even visit Rozzaria if you wanted to.

one thing i do agree on is the sound effects. they had to compress pretty badly to fit everything onto a DVD. based on FFX HD trailer, it seems like they're remastering the voices so sound fx quality should be something they'd likely address if XII went HD, especially since it was one of the most noticeable flaws in the game.

i think they made Bahamut a short area because theres no save point inside the dungeon. because entering Bahamut would change the story setting so much that it didn't make sense to allow you to leave, it was essentially like a point of no return.. and they didn't have save points in there so as not to have people save-trapping themselves in the dungeon. they could have just put a warning tho

This was my primary complaint about the game in its entirety. Climax equated to "final dungeon now on map, finish game? yes/no."

A lot of other complaints were answered by IZJS.

Honestly, after the length of the Ridorana Cataract (main story + lower levels for the hunts), I was glad Bahamut was short.

If FF12 is properly re released with trophy support and everything, I will quit my job, neglect the shit out of any children I might have, and make a pact of celibacy til I 100% the game.

My soul weeps for those who could not find enjoyment in this game even though there were several different ways to approach many of the battles.

If they do this, you know it'll be the ZIJS version too.

Every time I hear the term "Trophy/Achievement support" uttered as a feature or selling point I get the urge to stab someone with a pencil.

Didn't FFXII have that sky pirates den thing? I thought that was an early form of achievements.

That's how I always viewed it as well. It's pretty much the same thing as psn trophies except people can't see them.

Funny enough though, a LOT of people have no idea the sky pirates den even exists. Not saying that's the case for AoE obviously, just an interesting side note.

I like it. I feel like it adds a little something more. I think back to every time I have gone back and played a game like FF7 for example and done everything there is to do. I have my save file for a while but then might end up losing it or deleting it or just changing platform. With the trophies I can always just look back and see what I accomplished there.

Nothing in the game requires you to dig through the menus to get into the Sky Pirate's Den. There will be a [!] next to it like the bestiary, but I don't believe any tutorial even mentions it.

Unless you thought a Sky Pirate's Den was an actual locale?
