outer box - game box - book standing - book opened
woot i'm stupid! lol
; ; I wish i had the disposable income for this... If there is one book of art I'd love to have, it would be the one from FFX/FFX-2...
Too bad I don't even have a PS3. /cry
Man, thinking back to when the game was first released, I remember thinking how amazing the graphics were and that I thought it almost looked real.
Looking back at it now, I realize how bad they actually were, which makes me slightly embarrassed. I wonder if that's how people in the 40's felt about their special effects.
Nothing wrong with that though Uzor.
I felt the same when I played FFX and then FFXIII. Both for me were a new (in FF-stuff) milestone of effects/graphics for me. I still recall playing both games with awe as I'd stare at all the pretty eye candy.
I suppose when PS5 comes around and graphics looks like this on FF18:
Spoiler: show
Then we'd all look back at PS4's FFXV and think "man that looks shit".
Yes, I know I used a RL pic in the spoiler, but essentially I'm trying to point out when graphics achieve near realism and it becomes quite difficult to distinquish. Maybe not the best example and we perhaps have 1 or 2 other milestones to reach, but we're getting quite close lol
Didn't they actually said something about redoing most of textures or w/e?
Just watched that comparison video. Still an epic intro (FF8's was too messy, trailer like, but that earned a spot in me too).
I still remember my train of thought:
Sad .... mysterious ... YEAH 6 PARTY MEMBERS .... why is everyone sad ... oh, new orleans ..... what story? .... oh flashback ....
<oh, a very long flashback>
<reach the same point/intro>

No amazon preorder bonus for US?
So zero info on pre-order benefits for Vita owners?
Look at the vid again. Look at Tidus and Yuna's necklaces. Before they weren't separate objects, just color pixels pasted into the skin, but in the remake, they're actual objects. The detail is much better, I'm just worried that they've cut out too much of the color and washed into a series of browns (aside from the eyes, which look startlingly full of color).
This is the only thing that stood out to me. The original SD version had what felt like a soft subtle bloom in its lighting, even if it made Tidus look like an Oompa Loompa at times with a tad too much orange. In the HD ver, it's missing.
Whether or not it really makes any difference, I can't tell. Doubt the majority will even notice it or care.
hahaha i know what you mean. i used to go gaga over FFXs graphics when it first came out. The fluidity.. the clarity of the models. there were high and low quality models, but even the low ones were a huge jump from what we had on PS1.
Between XII and XIII i was blown away by the HD quality it, but i must say, FFXII looks spectacularly well even on a HDTV. sure nothing is crisp clear, but you don't see the polygons at all since they dropped the poly count and focused on higher quality polygon textures for pretty good effect. only problem is less moving parts i suppose. but it translates into a very artistic blurry style.. lol
I hope a HD XII comes out but they don't lose the technical art direction that the game took
