I understand how it works but I don't like it either, so I understand where you're coming from.
It actually got super boring once I fully understood it because it was impossible to lose. Ever.

Ive never liked it and I hated that wakka's weapon came from it.
I loved it, but just hated how quickly you can become overpowered.
Never liked it and ended up never using Wakka because of it.
I just rocked Auron, shitty Over drives be damned. Had nothing against Blitzball, just hated Wakka all around.
Too bad Wakka's a key part of stat sphere farming. Also Jecht shot means little compared to when Brother reaches higher levels and shits on everyone.
Brother only shits on everyone until about level 70, then he falls of hardcore. The best characters in the game are the Kilika beasts, but we're talking upper-tier levels, here.
I cant tell you how funny I find this. Back when the game was first released G4 did an episode on it. I remember an SE employee specifically saying Brother was the best player in the game and to pick him up as soon as you got access to him. I guess SE really doesn't play their own games.
Because every single SE employee should play every game his/her company releases? Or he simply didn't bother to reach higher levels in Blitzball like most of the playerbase.
I love blitzball and I've played it tons of times and I've still never hit level 70 lol. So brother still #1.
Well for most people, and through most of blitzball, he absolutely is. He's three times better than anyone for a good half of the game, but he starts falling off as his levels cut off quickly. Only those who really, REALLY like Blitzball get high enough level to start seein the crazy stuff like Kilika Beast players getting +12 stats per level. Hell, some people actually LOSE stats in certain areas at the highest levels.
I played about 4 full "season" (playing to max level), because, once again, this was 2005 and you better have had another game to play while LFG on drg. It got to the point where I was wishing that more ultimate weapons were given through blitzball, like fucking Khimari's butterfly hunt.
Also, a hilarious bit of planned irony: the Luca Goers become the worst team in the highest levels, due to their stats capping off fairly early in the "late" game while others continue to grow.
The real torture came in X-2 when AP eggs were only obtainable from whatever they thought was Blitzball in that game.
That coin game in X-2 was kinda fun actually once you understood it. I don't remember Blitzball at all in that game though. I guess it was that bad. Really can't wait to play X-2 again though. One of my fav turn-based battle systems of all FF's.
Blitzball in X-2 is completely automated I think. You basically just get people on the team and watch them play while managing them outside of games.
Sphere Break was too mathematical for me 10 years ago. it hurt my brain lol. I think i'd do a lot better now tho.
Blitzball in X-2 was like a simulator, you just set it and they'll autoplay in like triple speed, and all u see are the markers for each player move along a screen.
Definitely looking forward to X-2s battle again tho. I'd definitely play differently.. tho I'm not sure if i would not use Catnip+Trigger Happy simply because it was imbahax.
