Honestly, I tried to play X-2. Going through the intro, it was like playing final fantasy charlies angels. So I moved on to Bravely Default.

Honestly, the story sobers up the more you play, and i think the first hour or two is probably where most people give up, when it stops being as cheesy past that point. the whole idea is that spira is in an eternal calm and that everyone's pretty much celebrating and doing things they couldn't even dream of doing a couple years ago, such as touring the countryside without worrying about sin coming and wiping them off the face of the earth. the whole culture of spira is undergoing its adolescence so of course there's going to be some awkward scenes. if you look at it through that viewpoint a lot of the silliness makes more sense. (and it gets more serious as you find out about bevelle's sin counterpoint.)

Quick question about this -- do you just buy 4-slot armor from Wantz in Macalania? They're fucking expensive.

Also, what do you put in the 4th slot? Ribbon, Auto Med, Auto Regen, or Def+20%?

I had a few from random drops, but yeah, buying them is the quickest option. I know some people like having BHPL, but I personally think it's a wasted ability and like having Ribbon. That said, I've been busy and lacking motivation, so I haven't finished capping luck yet, so I still haven't fought Penance and don't know what's best for it.
