I'd usually just blaze through the game like whatever. I didn't make the connection until my second time through. Didn't think it was a big deal.

I played the beginning of FF10 more times than I like to admit because the memory card that I bought with my PS2 was carelessly handled by my friend and kinda chucked it out the window on the highway. So I got to spend the next 2 weeks playing the start over and over and playing as long as I could until either a- parent shut off console, b- someone blew a fuse(happened frequently in a 80yo house with shit wiring) c-something else.

Its cool lol. I just thought it was funny that people were bring up all these different reasons you should have realized it (same outfit, same music playing) but noone mentioned that she literally says it was her earlier.

I'm not sure if you noticed this but the guy in the red coat that you get about 8 hours in is actually the same guy helping you out at the beginning.

Haven't played this since 2001-2002, never finished it as I didn't really like the story ver much. I actually tried to go back to it 1-2 years ago but I couldn't stand Tidus voice at all, got to the first town and said fuck it.

Maybe I'll give it a second chance now that I can switch Tidus horrible voice to the JP one.

The mod that enabled JP Voice with english subtitles has been updated to 0.1.0, and the update now includes texture mod support. The current update includes dds (texture) files for PS/360/Xbone buttons

Edit : Also planned is the ability to skip cutscenes

I'm enjoying the game more than I thought I would, maybe it's due the lack of good JRPGs lately. The story is kinda meh, that didn't change and probably it'll get worse as the game goes on, but the combat system is way better than I remember, I barely switched characters when I played back in 2001, and surely didn't exploit enemy weaknesses.

Blitzball is still as bad though, worst FF minigame.

FFX has the worst FF minigame, but it's not Blitzball. It's the goddamn lightning dodging bullshit.

I tried that on my first pass through Thunder Plains today. Got to 40 before messing up.

Lightning dodging is super easy. There are spots with guaranteed lightning strikes. Just run back and forth across one of them, and you'll be done in 15 minutes. Blitzball is just scoring one goal, then sitting next to your own goal with the ball waiting for the clock to mercifully run out.
