I remember the chocobo race being a bitch when I was a kid. But I did it in like 10 tries this time around.

We've all levelled up in RL![]()
After having to redo 0.00 a second time (I went and did it too early before I had the airship), I figured out that the Balloon positions are not static every time you make an attempt. From what I concluded, there are a number of different orientations the game loads at random every time you attempt. I could tell which one it was immediately that I would get 0.00 on because it starts off with a lot of easily attainable balloons, where as other times right at the start, you begin running into the Chocobo Rider if you attempt to grab balloons.
Ahh chocobo racing. I think I scared Astylla with the random loud FUCK while working on that. Same with lightning dodger.
Honestly, if I don't get a bunch of balloons right at the beginning I pretty much give up that run as lost.
I just really suck at controlling the chocobo, though. Well, I haven't been back to it yet since I've been slamming hours of blitzball for Wakka's reels, bleugh... honestly can't wait until I never have to play Blitzball again. At least I now understand exactly how to play the game, but I still don't really enjoy it.
Ok, question time.
I just got to the end game and want to get everyones ultimate weapon in this playthrough. Blitzball takes 10-15 minutes per game.
If you've done it, then my question is : How many hours of blitzball are we talking? 5? 10? From lvl 1 bullshit team to "here you go Wakka, a shiny new ass kicker".
If you play Tidus and Jecht everything, not long.
I think you can reset prizes too by S/L.
There is a guide to getting all of the FFX HD trophies, just google search it on popular faq website and it should detail a 10hr or fewer way to collect all the reels/sigil. Basically it amounts to getting a specific team of players together, playing 2 league games and then resetting the game until the tournament shows the 1st place prize as the reels/sigil you're after. After the tournament, completely reset your team, then lather rinse repeat. I ended up playing 2 tournaments and 2 full league seasons I believe, which amounted to... 30-ish games of blitzball.
Also, blitzball games take much less time when you don't actually play them. Getting a top-tier goalie will make things super easy. Have Tidus score an early goal with Jecht Shot each game. When you get the ball back after taking the lead, just run back to your own goal. The AI will swim in circles, and the clock will run out pretty quickly. If you follow the other advice of reloading until the right prize shows up in order to play the minimum number of matches, you're looking at a little under five hours of Netflix and Blitz probably.
Blitzball is easiest when you play it throughout the story itself a few game at a time. I can't imagine having to do it all at once.
Speed up time makes everything better after you score one point and secure the ball in the second round just hug the inside of your goal.
I wonder if that hug inside of goal thing works if you're going for league wins though, I thought those were based on something other than just straight up winning....like # of goals scored or something? I could be misunderstanding because I didn't look very hard but either way I did it the "hard" way by scoring as many goals as possible in every game.
In addition to placing in the top 3 in either League or Tourney play, there is also a prize for the Top Scorer. I think one of Wakka's overdrives is earned this way(?):
When you've won all 3 of Wakka's overdrives, the Jupiter Sigil has a 50% chance of spawning as the Rank 1 League prize when a new season begins. So at that time you complete game 10 of a season and results are tallied, just save/reset your game until the Sigil spawns as the prize. You can do the same exploit to make the Reels spawn.Originally Posted by wikia
Also, sign Brother from the Airship bridge so you can swim circles around everyone. His SPD is way higher than other players for a long while, can just pass to Tidus and Jecht Shot over and over until Brother really pulls away from everyone else stat-wise.
Excellent, thank you all.
Re:Silenka - I know -what- I have to do, I've just never done it. I didn't want to start a 20 hour march into madness, but I'm ok with a 5-6.
Also, not having to wait on PS2 load times for a game reset.
It will help the time between cursing at the chocobo racing minigame. 0.3, try again fucker!
I'm hitting that point at endgame where I'm collecting all the celestials definitely regretting not doing blitzball consistently throughout the game. Just have Sin and Omega Ruins left to capture, then on to monster arena grinding.
That's just how the game is made. If you want to beat extra content then you will one shot everything in normal game
Which is fine by me. After monster arena grinding the whole sphere grid, I'm ready to uninstall this shit as soon as possible.
